Have any FS recipients received their Consortium package in the mail yet? I heard they went out Monday. Just wanted to know if it was USPS, FedEx, DHL or whatever...

I'm delivering the letters personally to congratulate all of you. I'm tired right now so I should be there within the next few months.
lol, Hey lago, I've been away for a while. What's going on with you? Any acceptances?

So I received the UCLA email saying that the decision was available online. I login, but it's nowhere to be found. I email Anderson, and I get a follow-up email titled "Decision Availability: Correction," and then "You may have recently received an email notifying you that a decision was available for your Consortium application. This email was sent in error. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. An admissions decision will be available for all completed applications on March 30, 2011."

Did this happen to anyone else? I know others have been admitted, waitlisted, and denied, so this is strange that they aren't letting every Consortium applicant know at the same time.

Same thing happened to me. I got the decision available email around 12:30pm today and then correction email around 2pm today. The only difference is that my decision WAS ready and was on the applyyourself website when I logged in, so they must have sent me the correction email accidentally. I hope they do better next year.

They just replied to my email, and said that "A few files did not have a decision yet and received the notification email in error." I wonder what the difference between these few files and the remainder of the applicants is. Obviously they know by now.

Just moded by UCLA, (ah nuts). Greentea, I def need a drink. Who/What should I look for? Any particular spot you'll be in?

Anyone out there successfully negotiated more money out of a consortium school (non-fellowship) based upon a large fellowship from a non-consortium school?

I'd like to know too. I want to see my FS in writing. Hopefully we'll all get them tomorrow and Friday.

Hi All - quick question... Has anyone ever used their Consortium FS to negotiate their financial aid at McCombs? I will probably get my aid info from them in the near future, but I have to image that it won't be a full ride since my FS has already been awarded by another school. I am very interested in going to McCombs, but given that most people get their aid information about a week before they have to accept/decline, I don't know if there would be time or wiggle room for that.

Also, for those that have managed to negotiate aid at one school based on an offer from another, how do you go about it? I can't imagine calling up the adcom and saying "well xyz offered me X per year, can you match that?" There must be a more suave way to go about it, right?

Any insights would be much appreciated!

I don't know what to say exactly but you have to make them aware that if you are given anything that you will certainly attend.

Ok, so you the term "senioritis" like the feeling of not doing anything productive when you are about to graduate?
We should come up with a word for this time in life--having a FS and waiting to quit your job...this is torture!

We can call it...Consortiumitis or Dardenitis or we can just call it the "peace-out" stage

I haven't negotiated with any schools, but I would prob say something like:

"Hey I really love your school and it is where I hope to be in the fall. (Perhaps say a couple reasons why you and school x fit together so well.) I was offered a f/s to another school, which as you can imagine can be quite tempting given the cost of an MBA program. I'm wondering if financial aid/scholarship decisions are final or if there is anything i can do to earn a scholarship from your school. It would make this a much easier decision because I truly love your school."

Of course, you'd say that much more eloquently than what I just said... but, something to that effect.

If you haven't already, I'd visit both to try an establish which one is a better fit with you (both personally and professionally). I'd do some soul-searching and decide what it is you want out of an MBA, where you want be (personally, I look about 3-5 years out) and really evaluate the schools based on who best meets that criteria. That's just my 2 cents...

Sidebar- isn't Tepper know for the quantitative strength of its program?
