I know I am being over optimistic

But are there past instances of international applicants getting admitted without interview?
Would someone like to comment on this please?
BlueDreamer, I too doubt that they will admit candidates without interview. Smoewhere in the archives of the Tuck blog, I read an admissions officer stating that they interview all candidates that they admit. In addition, there are many Tuck alums in India and its highly unlikely that they couldnt find one to interview you, unless you live in a B/C town far away from a major metro.
The only other instance I can think of where they may waive the interview requirement is if your essays and accomplishments are so outstanding that they dont merit any further enquiry. When invited for an interview, I was actually given a deadline by which to complete it, implying in my mind that adcom wanted to ensure they have all the material when they lock themselves in a room to "craft" the class.
From what I read on these boards, Tuck is also careful about taking in candidates that will not get bored out of their wits in a rural American setting. During my interview, the alum asked me multiple times if I was sure I would enjoy a rural setting with virtually no shopping - this after me telling him that I am a mountaineer that spends good part of a year climbing mountains in solitude and that I studied in a boarding school in the Himalayas for 10 years that was scores of miles from any city.
If I were you, I would still hope for the best but spend my energy on preparing for the 2nd round deadlines. Dont lose hope but at the same time, be prepared for the worst so that your efforts for other schools are not unduly hampered in the event of a ding.
I apologize for the slightly negative tilt of the post, I am similarly preparing myself for the worst. Tuck is my dream school and I really hope I am accepted but I am still preparing applications for the other schools if the news from Tuck isnt great.
Best of luck !!
