Hi guys,

After a lot of thinking and researching, I think it's better for me to wait for a year or two. So I'm not going to apply to any mba program this year.

Good luck, everyone.

Regards,
Louis

Not an easy decision to make, and perhaps, it may be a wise decision. Good luck!

Applying to R2. Yale SOM is my first choice - I wanted to get it in by R1 but ultimately didn't want to rush the application or my recommenders.

Thanks for all of these posts - very helpful.

This may be a silly question, but in YSOM's short answer essays they ask you to "answer each of the four questions below with a short paragraph of no more than 150 words"... I really would like to break up each of my 150 word answers into 2 paragraphs for readability and flow, but I don't want to give the impression that I can't follow instructions.

Thoughts?

During campus visit, somebody asked the question about answering 150 words questions individually or all in one essay to have a better flow. AdCom said that we can pick our own style, it's just that they want us to "answer" the questions because most of the times, applicants add information that does not pertain to the question.

Are the pics on the first page of Yale SOM? Because during the campus visit, I was least impressed by the "buildings". Faculty, staff and students are great though. But from the things that I have observed, I don't think sensitive people should join SOM.

The pictures on the first page are of the new building that will be constructed.

Can you flesh out why you "don't think sensitive people should join SOM"? I'm interested to understand your reasoning.

As for the buildings, I was actually charmed by them! The schools as it presently stands is certainly smaller and less grandiose than most other top business schools, but it's got style and class. In a way, I'd be glad to get in before the school moves to the massive new complex in 2013.

I'd be curious to know why sensitive people shouldn't come to Yale too. :-D A sensitive person may be slightly better off at Yale Forestry than Yale SOM, but as far as business schools go... I'm sort of confused by that statement.

It's a finance school, not non-profit. So, not meant for sensitive people :-)

Although 11% of the last class has gone into non-profit... That's pretty darn "sensitive" as far as b-schools go.
