I'm very curious to see where everyone gets their Consortium fellowship (assuming and hoping we all do get one of course :-D ) in light of the rankings and prior scholarship info.

For example, I've got a significant scholarship from Tepper, my #2. And Olin, which is my #3, gave me no money, despite its reputation for giving out lots of scholarship money. Has Tepper already given me the best they will? Is Olin waiting for the draft, or did I really strike out?

With all the data points we have this year, this may be our best chance yet to find some patterns in all of this.

Haas is just toying w/ me!!

I open my email after seeing the mail logo on my phone,..and I see I have an email from Haas,..I'm about to shed tears of joy when I realize it's just an informational email about the Toigo Pre MBA finance event. Talk about a gut punch.

Guys, I have a question. I have never visited McCombs, and I was invited to interview. Do you think I could schedule my interview with an alumni in my city and still be seriously considered for admission???

Texas said that they are sensitive to rankings. They prefer to be 1 or 2 (told us this at diversity weekend) so if you ranked them there it prob won't matter. If you ranked them pretty low, they may consider the fact that you never visited.

Thanks for the input. I ranked them No.4. The problem is that I can't miss so many days at work and the tickets from Miami are crazy expensive. I have visited Cornell and Ross for interviews, and I will travel to UNC at the end of the month. I will make a decision later today.
First off...shout out to the 305!!

I don't know what ur financial situation is, but I don't think u should let a couple hundred dollars stand in the way of making the best impression that you can. In the long run we're talking about 100k in free money. Personally I've had to take a vacation week to knock out 4 interviews back to back, and I'm flying from Florida to the North east. I don't know if that will translate into a bunch of admits, but I won't let "lack of interest" be the reason that I don't get in.

For Haas, I'm gonna do an off-campus. I've visited the school before and since I'm an east coaster it is a bit far for me.

Yale just came through with an invite...I had lost hope there. What a day.

Congrats srnamargarita,....what a day indeed!! I fantasize of days where i can have multiple invites!

Where did you rank Yale if I may ask? Yeah, i've pretty much written Yale off, I ranked them 5/5. I've received 1 invite only (Ross) at the very beginning of the cyle (Jan.18),...so its been almost a month long cold spell for me. The schools i'm waiting on are Haas, Darden, Yale, and Wharton. And Wharton is a superreach. Not hearing from Darden is really agonizing though, of all the schools I thought i had my best shot w/ them and the clock is ticking, my chances are getting slimmer by the day.

Yale was my #2...so still very high up on the list rankings wise. My super cool yesterday was balanced today by my (expected) HBS ding. It's the nature of the beast!

Thanks mooze. I have my fingers crossed for you and all. At the end of the day, we can only go to one school and I hope we all get at least one great option.

I hung out with The Senator this weekend at DAK. No worries, he didn't disappear and should return shortly. He's got something in the works that's taking his attention from the whole b-school game.

So glad to see that the interview invites are still coming in for folks!

Senator getting engaged??? He has mentioned his girlfriend pursuing a masters in health management... That would take my mind off of school right now....

In our effort to track every email & correspondence with our schools. Today, I received an email from Emory telling me my application has been completed (weird b/c this is the 3rd time I've received that email) and I received an email from Tuck asking me to complete a survey about my interview & visit at the end of January. Nothing special but opening my morning email to subject lines of "Tuck Interview" & "Goizueta Thanks You" was exciting for 2.3 seconds.

I have a question about the fellowship that maybe you guys can help me with. Going by the previous couple of posts, if it's true that McCombs does not often give fellowships to applicants who list them lower than first or second, then what about this scenario. Let's say I applied to 4 schools and ranked them in this order: 1) Haas, 2) Stern, 3) McCombs, 4) Wisconsin. I haven't heard anything from Haas or Stern, invited to interview with McCombs and feel good about interviewing with Wisconsin. If I get dinged from Haas and Stern, when it comes time for the draft, will McCombs know that Haas and Stern dinged me and then view themselves as my defacto remaining best option and possibly offer me a fellowship? Or will they not know that Haas and Stern dinged me and only know that Haas and Stern did not decide to offer me a fellowship and still view themselves in third position? Finally, if I get dinged from Haas and Stern, accepted to McCombs and Wisconsin, is there a chance that McCombs and Wisconsin both decide to not offer me a fellowship?

To make short of this, I think if you originally ranked McCombs #3, they will continue to view themselves as your 3rd choice regardless of the Haas and Stern results. I think the point was that McCombs has enough people putting them #1 or #2 overall that they don't feel compelled to offer the fellowship to those who didn't. In this hypothetical scenario, you didn't. But who knows what will really go down.

I agree with what Method said.

To add, if Haas and Stern ding you and you're accepted by McCombs and Wisconsin, there is a chance that McCombs and Wisconsin will both not offer you the fellowship, but it's probably 50/50. If you have solid stats and made good impressions on the schools it's possible that one of them, especially Wisconsin, will step up and offer it to you. If you only get into one of the schools you might have some worrying to do because that school would have no incentive to offer the fellowship to you. They would know you already have no choice but to go there.
