Tough week. Dinged at both Ivy schools Yale and Cornell. No interview invite though, so I wasn't expecting anything. I have 2 interview invites so I am still in pretty good shape, even though I only received 2 invites out of 6 consortium schools I applied to.

Sorry to hear! Definitely keep us posted on the rest of the results and good luck!

Just a question to everybody here. With interviews invites and admits rolling, I think we all have an idea where we may be going. I want to know what everyone is thinking.

Personally, I am looking forward to my interviews with 1.) Darden and 2.) Duke (non-Consortium.) Also very optimistic with 3.) Kelley. How about you people?

Yale has updated status on the admit website. Those admitted will get emails and calls today and tomorrow.

I hear they're putting alot into Consortium apps this year. Good luck all. I'm in. Have been lucky thus far in the admissions process, as we say 'Alhamdolillah' (Praised be the Lord).

Here's some interesting info for those applying to Dartmouth: They had issues with getting Consortium applications loaded into their systems. They do them in batches, but some Consoritum ones were pretty delayed. So if you didnt do a self initiated interview, you might still hear back this week. After that, its too late I think.

waitlisted at Yale. I honestly don't know what to do now. :(

i was wait listed too.... i'll probably hang out until after the march 22nd decision at Yale or until i hear back if i received a consortium fellowship from other schools (waiting on UVA and Emory)... if i do, then i'll probably remove myself from the wait list. i put Yale #1, but i also didn't apply to any school that i wouldn't be happy with an admittance, so it's all good.

take a look at the wait list FAQ they sent out. if you haven something you can improve, do it.

don't be discouraged.... you're going to end up exactly where you're supposed to be. :-D

Does it reflect poorly if I didn't attend the Ross Consortium/BBSA event last weekend? I had my interview around Jan.22nd,...i wanted to attend but I just didn't have the resources. I know its not compulsory but I'm wondering if that will have any bearing, especially considering I expressed interest in BBSA not only in the application but also the interview.

I don't think it will reflect poorly. Not every applicant is going to make every event, and things come up in life. When it's all said and done your Ross application is reviewed on the order of 5 times, so this isn't going to be a straw to break the camel's back by any means! They're pouring over your profile and at some point figuring out if that's a profile they need for this year's class mix.

Yeah, things are definitely narrowing in for me. I'm waiting on Ross, which is my #1 Consortium school, but I've been spending a lot of time re-energizing about Tepper, which is my #2 Consortium school and the place I'll probably attend if Ross falls through.

If I get into Ross, I'll withdraw from the Fuqua WL. If I don't get into Ross, then I'll put my deposit down at Tepper and ride the Fuqua WL for a bit.

My main thing right now is not to head into Fall disappointed that I didn't get in somewhere else. I want to be excited about every school on my shortlist, and that's kind of where my head will be until March 15th :)

Question for the board,

To those with WLs, especially those with admits from other schools, are you guys actively trying to gain an admit (sending updates, keeping in touch with AdCom, school visits, etc.) even if you have another admit in hand? I ask because I have an admit to Cornell and Emory and think I stand a relatively good chance to get some money from Cornell, but I got WL'd by Stern which I ranked first but probably would've picked 2nd behind Cornell if you would've asked me a month after I submitted. I plan on sending an update to Stern over the wknd with some recent developments at work and otherwise even though I dont think I'll get any money from them and am pretty much out of the running for the cgsm fellowship at this point. If I get in I would still lean to Cornell over them due to cost of living and the possibility of funding among other factors, but I put a lot of work into my Stern app and do like the school and want to see it through to try to get in. Is anyone in a similar situation, or have any thoughts on this?

Stay on the Stern WL until after the draft. Maybe it will place some pressure on Johnson to put up the fellowship. After that I would withdraw from Stern if Johnson is your true #1 now. Mission accomplished!

I've sent updates to Fuqua, but only because I would attend over Tepper under the right conditions such as no CGSM fellowship.

Good to know i'm in good company :)
Haas was my number one, and i havent recieved an invite from them. At this point I don't think I will, especially given that they stress GMAT scores even more than Yale and i was waitlisted there. my #3 on the consortium was Marshall. Had the interview via skype yesterday, and i'm really not sure at all how it went. UCLA was #4 and theirs is next week. Emory I have to schedule.

Right now, I am most hopeful for Owen Vanderbilt. I was there last weekend and think things went really well. They're not consortium but do offer full fellowship opportunities for diverse candidates.

Thanks for the reply method,

Yeah I definitely plan on staying on Stern's list at least until after the draft plays out though I think I'll withdraw from Georgetown's soon

Congratulations on your admits johnny! Very impressive stuff.

If I were you, I would try to gain an admit from Stern just to have more options on the table. At the end of the day, when you have all your cards lined up together, that's when you make a decision. Don't decide now, just keep pushing :-D
