riceman89, Ayan,

Could you please update your profile with GMAT score, GPA, industry and work experience info ?

I had my interview for R3 and during the interview I was also asked if I would be interested in EMBA. It seems there may be more folks trying for EWMBA while EMBA may have seats open. Just a guess though..

Congrats to all who got accepted. Did anyone get a scholarship? Was it communicated over the phone? Does it show up in your application page?

You apply for scholarships once you are accepted and they have a separate announcement date.

Are all admitted students eligible to apply? How do I apply?

For UCLA, I was informed that I am eligible for Fellowship and they provided me with a link where I could go and apply. I didn't see any link in my EWMBA admission email.

All admitted students are eligible to apply, although there are some scholarships that have restrictions based on income, work sector, etc. There will be a link to apply for scholarships within the New Admits website that you receive a link to some time after admission.

With numbers like those why aren't you applying to top-10 full-time programs?

I can't speak for baller041, but I don't think most people are applying to Berkeley EWMBA because they can't get into a top full-time program. My view is that most applicants are slightly later in their career, already making similar $ to average top-10 MBA grads, and aren't intensely looking to switch careers. Given this, the opportunity cost of going to a full time program, in addition to tangible cost of the program, is upwards of half a million dollars, making the value proposition of a full-time program rather low.

This is spot on for me. Opportunity cost is the name of the game. Why would I quite a stellar job when I can keep it, keep growing, and obtain an MBA from a top seven school at the same time?

Same here 750 GMAT and 7 years of experience, also wait-listed :(

In all fairness, my interview did not go well so happy with wait-list.

You took the words right out of my mouth. :)

Ah well, can only hope for a positive response in a couple of months.

..I don't think most people are applying to Berkeley EWMBA because they can't get into a top full-time program...

At Haas the full-time program acceptance rate is around 13.2% compared to the part-time acceptance rate of around 47%. So how is it exactly you think that "most people" accepted into the part-time program could also get into the full-time program? Statistically, that's extremely unlikely, not even taking into account that the applicant pool for full-time programs are generally going to be more competitive in almost every respect except perhaps work experience.

Whether baller041 would prefer a part-time program or full-time is up to him of course, but based on his numbers, at least he'd have a good shot at a top full-time program, assuming the rest of his application is strong as well (essays, interview, recommendation, employer brand, value fit, etc). And the opportunity cost difference may not be as high as you think. Many people believe a full-time experience is richer and offers more opportunities due to its immersive nature (which means you might "get more"). Additionally when you're younger, you're typically making less money anyway. And what about the time you spend in a part-time program? There are opportunity costs to that as well. You could be moonlighting in your spare time instead of going to school which would equate to more $$$ (nobody ever seems to talk about this).

There are counter arguments of course, and I don't want to turn this into GMAT essay so let me just say this: Baller041 and anyone with a similar profile should not feel too distraught. It looks to me like you should have plenty of good options for yourself now and in the future.

I think you're misinterpreting my statement. I never said everyone applying for Haas EWMBA could get into the full time program. I'm simply saying that most EWMBA applicants are at a different stage in their careers, so they chose to apply not because they couldn't get into a top full time program, but because the part time program makes more sense for them..

There were several scholarships available. I knew I wouldn't qualify for the need based or the minority one, so I only applied for the non-profit and merit based. There should be a link when you log into your online application that says "apply for scholarships" or something similar. You have to write a short essay about each one and attach resume to the merit based one. You don't get much time to prepare. We got about 1 week to complete for R1.

Do you mind sharing if you received it? And also if anyone else received.

I have missed the deadline for this round of review. Planning to call them and ask if I can apply for next round. Anyone has experience with that?
Thanks in advance.
