To all those who got invite: Congratulations! :) And, all the very best!

Unfortunately, it's end of the journey for me   But, no love lost for the school or this thread. I'll continue to engage in thread discussions :) I wish HBS visited this page and realized my love for the school  I wonder if schools revise their decision. Lol

P.S. It's tough to keep a happy face when you are heartbroken!

Also got deferred. Do you know how many applicants usually get deferred?

gmatpercher
Deferred to round two, so it looks like the waiting game will continue into January

Would also like to know about this if anyone has any info!

Anyone who got an interview invite signed up for the AlumniChat? I just signed up but now think about I might be matched with someone from my firm.

Is it a good idea to email admissions to opt out of this optional chat with an alumnus?

Anyone has any idea? In the email, they said the chat with alumni is completely optional and not factored into the process.

Thanks man! I went to one of the top liberal arts college with a STEM major and work in finance. GMAT is 720.

I signed up for everything thinking it wouldn't hurt. One thing I am thinking about is doing all the onsite interview activities + class visit before my actual interview date so I get to enjoy the campus without much pressure of an interview lingering that day.

I can feel you mate. I've got a similar profile as well. Worked on two nuclear deals (both successful) with two countries, led the negotiations for my country, and have some amazing leadership experiences. GMAT 770. Still no invite. I have no idea what went wrong. Perhaps the essays didn't bring out the essence or the goals weren't clearly articulated. Shouldn't matter much now though as it's game over. We rather dust off the ding and look forward to other schools. All the best to you mate.

There is no downside to doing the Alumni Chat and I can't imagine they'd match you with someone at the same firm.

I'm a little late to the party, but rejected as well. Not that I'm not tempted to over-analyze the decision like many of you too, but what I have learned is that there is a quantum of luck involved too. I had a chat with someone who had a similar profile as I do and a 690 GMAT. He got rejected from every school but HBS. So my conclusion is to take it easy, not personally.

Good luck to everyone, both those rejected and those invited to an interview.

Great point! After all, there are ~10K applicants and only ~900 seats. Besides, at least 50% of the applicants must be having very very strong profile. It's anybody's game. And yes, luck plays a huge part too. So, a ding doesn't mean you are weak. A mistake here or there or an under-cooked application can easily get your application rejected. Cruel, but that's how competitive the admissions process is!

Hello folks, how is the interview prep coming up? Feel free to share/discuss any doubts/queries regarding interview process that you have and get help from this forum to strengthen your preparation. BTW, are you folks doing mutual mock interviews? This can be pretty helpful.

Those who have interviewed, please post your debrief and interview experience to help others. :)

My interview is on 11/15 (the second to last day). Doing the same thing as what legendkillaz is doing and watching stuff on YouTube.

legendkillaz

I am preparing as part of my other interviews. Looking at typical questions online and writing down my answer. Good thing HBS is last for me in mid Nov, so I should be well prepared with interviews for other schools. How are you preparing?
