14 days have passed since the R2 deadline. In R1 that was how long they took before announcing their first interview round. The blog mentions the beginning of February as interview announcement time. 3 weeks vs 2? I am hoping for an update from Dee soon.

I think an additional week kind of makes sense given the higher volume of applications in R2 as compared to R1.
Hi All- Can someone verify if they are calling recommenders? I believe I did see a post earlier in the last two pages of this forum. I guess we all should ask our recommenders to be on the lookout. But would be great if others familiar with the HBS process can confirm the same. Thanks!
FUN ARTILCE ON B SCHOOL DEANS WHO TWEET IN POETS & QUANTS --BELOW THEIR SHREWD TAKE ON HBS DEAN NOHRIA, WHO IS USES TWITTER MOSTLY FOR THANK-YOU NOTES. NOT REALLY IN THE SPIRIT OF THINGS, AND WAY BEHIND OF THE CURVE OF STANFORD DEAN. READ FULL STORY HERE
Nitin Nohria Dean Harvard Business School Handle: NitinNohria Total Tweets: 53 Followers: 1,588 Follows: 49
Started Tweeting: April 29, 2009
Though he has the second largest group of followers after only Stanford’s Garth Saloner, Nitin Nohria is little more than sporadic tweeter with surprisingly weak content (far too many thank you notes sent to various alumni clubs). Indeed, when Harvard Business School voted to approve significant changes to the MBA program on Jan. 19th, there was no tweet. Then, four days later this: ”Job creation is the key to America’s economic recovery and Jeff Immelt knows how to create jobs. Great decision by Obama.” Still nothing about Harvard’s new changes to its MBA program. He began tweeting as a Harvard professor in April of 2009 with a straightforward message announcing “joining the twitter movement.” Well, sort of. It took Nohria more than two months to tweet again. In his first full year on Twitter, the future dean of Harvard tweeted exactly twice. Since becoming Harvard’s tenth dean on July 1, he’s stepped it up–a little. There was this tweet: “My first day as Dean of HBS! I am honored, humbled, and excited to embark on this wonderful journey.” There have been exactly 30 tweets in nearly seven months
hopefully we will see an update from The Gatekeeper soon.

My guess is next Monday there will be a post and invites will be released on Tues Feb 1st. This is complete speculation though. R1 we saw Oct 1 -> Oct 14th (blog) -> Oct 15th invites. My thought is that they will need 1 extra week (50% more time) given larger applicant pool (maybe approx 50% larger??).
So that would give us: R2 Jan 11 -> Jan 31st (blog) -> Feb 1st invites.
In my mind early Feb was still a ways off, but it's actually almost here! Time to ramp up the anxiety/speculation.. hahah!

Last year, invites went out on FRI feb 12, though the application deadline was a week later. My guess is that the majority of invites will be released on FRI feb 4. I guess only time will tell.
Hm, just curious, what's the lowest GPA for an HBS admittant we have a record of? Even though I got a degree in Chemistry, and had significant Economics studies, it's obviously the part of my application that I'm most concerned about.

It's definitely much lower than a 3.26, lol. I'd imagine around a 2.5ish if not lower (actually I think George Bush had lower than that from Yale undergrad...but of course he was "George Bush"). I think that's fine for science. I have a science degree as well and around that GPA and I'm not totally worried. They know that most people couldn't handle orgo lab or classes like p chem...And your GMAT balances your GPA anyways so I wouldn't worry. Good luck!
I've heard that admissions may have to justify admits with extremely low GPAs to the faculty before proceeding.
I have no guarantee that this is true, and I can't even pinpoint the source, so please take it with a grain of salt. (I've red so many blogs, books, podcasts, interviews about this stuff its not even funny.) Just consider the implications - faculty wouldn't want someone who can't catch up with the material in a room of 90 people discussing cases. If your GPA is low, find other ways to prove that you can handle the load and give admissions enough ammunition to advocate on your behalf.

That's interesting. Do faculty members take part in admissions too? Also, NewSc2, I don't think 3.26 would make it into that "extremely low" category

Yeah, I'm not *too* worried about it... I'd hope my GMAT score balances my GPA out. I also kind of used my GPA to signify a turnaround in my "mistake" essay—out of all my apps, I think HBS was the one where I let my personality loose on the paper, and I feel pretty good about my HBS essays overall.
But still, I wouldn't be at all surprised if I got non-interview dinged.
Hi all, a quick question here: for HBS interview choices, are there only two options : on campus or by phone, both cases with adcom ?
I know that there are hub interviews organized in some big cities in China. This is great because phone interview just sucks! Now am wondering if there will be such event in Paris too, anyone got an idea?
btw, i'm asking this "in case" i get HBS invite, absolutely no news yet.
I noticed that in the cost summary, the room cost is for a duration 9 months. Does it mean that during the three months of summer we necessarily have to move all our stuff out then back in?

Current students told me that for the dorms, you have to move out during the summer, hence the 9-month rent is the only option. But for the apartments, you have to rent it year-round so there is no need to move out during the summer.

I have almost the same stats as you (although a tad lower). 3.25 GPA / 760 GMAT. Its part of the application I'm most concerned about as well.
Quality of school and difficulty of degree also matter, as does the schools's reputation in terms of grade inflation.
A 3.25 in comparative literature at Directional State University woin't look that great, but a 3.25 from a non-grade-inflating Ivy or tough engineering program at a good technical school is probably ok.
A 3.25 while doing nothing but going to class isn't that spectacular, but a 3.25 while holding a full-time job and holding leadership roles in several clubs or volunteer organizations isn't bad.
There's a lot of factors at play aside from simply what the GPA is.
