Gilmour92 :- Hey there, great that you started this page. Can you add some more information with the easy access links here about the school if possible.

I am applying to WHU by 31st Jan so in a nutshell I am looking for German MBAs though not very sure how they are in terms of global reach. As a foreigner in Germany, I am a bit apprehensive about the language requirements that restrict the job opportunities there. What are your thoughts on this? If you can introduce yourself as well, it would be great.

About Me :- My name is Shameek, Indian 31 - looking for FT-MBA in Sept'21. Looking mostly into European (UK and German) and Indian Schools for their 1 year program and higher avg. work-ex in the class profile. Also suits my needs. I am currently living in Poland and running my own start up for past 7 months or so. Have worked for 9+ years in Automotive Embedded industry prior to this as an engineer.

Nice to meet you. Glad to know that you're interested in European programs. I am an Indian engineer working in the Oil & Gas industry in India.

From what I've learnt, the vast majority of the post-MBA jobs in Germany would require you to have atleast some proficiency in German. Moreover, German language courses are offered throughout the program by top schools such as HHL, in addition to the coursework.

Hi, I know this discussion is for MBA. But I'm stuck in a dilemma and I need some help.
I have admits from ESCP and HHL both for the MIM program. I graduated 2 years back.
As good as ESCP is, HHL offers a MIM with a specific Finance Track. And i'm interested in finance.
Also, in the long term I look forward to gain work experience in Germany.

Please can someone suggest which direction I should head in?

And, Congratulations for getting admits from ESCP and HHL!

Both the schools are best in their class, class curriculum, academic structure, faculty interaction and international exposure.

Fact check - ESCP offers an academic program and internship opportunities across 4 international cities, a feat that is not available under HHL.
Keeping your desire to work in Germany, the schengen visa( EU student visa ) provides you access to stay and hunt for job across all the EU zones post grad for 18 months.

I would suggest to connect with current students and alumni of both ESCP and HHL through LinkedIn and admissions office to get the latest update.

Thank you so much for your reply!

The confusion I'm facing is that at ESCP there are a lot of tracks available and the Finance track is much better at the Paris campus. But one cannot stay at the same campus for more than 2 out of 4 semesters, including the first general semester. Whereas at HHL it's all planned beforehand. Also, HHL has a mandatory exchange program.

Basically, the reason why i'm stuck is, as per the FT Rankings, although at a lower spot, HHL provides a better ROI as compared to ESCP. As well as I've already have a B1 certification in German.

Lastly, ESCP being a French School and having a campus in Berlin, and HHL being a itself a German School; does it create a distinction when seeking Job prospects?

Please let me know, what your views are.

Useless007, Your dilemma is pretty valid since you are targeting the right questions in terms of what and where you want to be post-grad.

Being that said, there is NO distinction when you are seeking job prospects be it either France or Germany from the employer side.
However, you will be making better and more resolute contacts once you stay and engage in one place because of more meaningful, frequent and deeper interactions.

Furthermore, because you have already aced German B1 level, HHL adds more brownie points.

A trade-off is mandatory between cross-cultural immersiveness and intangible connections.
You have been warned Amigo - choose your battles wisely!

The interview was 30 minutes long. The faculty member was Prof Dr. Meynhardt. =)

I believe, at the moment, they are putting students on their waitlist. They will offer loan once more fund sources will be available. Also, they fund up to 47,000 USD for HHL Living and Fees.

Just be patient once you apply as in most of cases they offer loans. In case there is an issue, you can write directly to them and they will clear any doubts.

I am from India I had my interview on 18th FEB 2021 and I got selected for the MBA program in HHL. Mr. Vivek told me you will get the offer letter very soon, Till now I didn't receive any offer letter, anyone else out there who is done with the interview and waiting for the offer letter, any idea how many days it will take to send the offer letter?

Usually, the timeline is around 2 weeks. You can also check directly with the Admissions Manager at HHL. They are very responsive and can let you know by when you will receive the offer letter.
