Profile Review

Looking for a quick evaluation of my profile for Executive MBA programs IIM C

Profile:

Indian Male, Age: 31

GMAT FE: 615

Education: IIT Guwahati-Chemical Engineering(7.5 CGPA), 10th: 80.4%, 12th: 80.8%

CFA Charterholder

Experience: 9 Years(Oil and Gas), upstream National Oil Company

Domain: Commercial – Contracts & Purchase

Queries:

Is my profile competitive for IIM Exec MBA C

CFA charter is a big +. You MUST demonstrate a clear story of why you want to do an MBA at this stage of your career and why not pivot directly into finance using your CFA credentials. A story that links your background in your current company with your aspiration to pursue CFA charter and now an MBA IS the single most important thing you need to demonstrate in your essays.

If you’re open to international opportunities then you can seek GMAT exemption on the basis of your CFA L3.

Wishing you the best Ravi!

Decent academics. CFA and IITG brand helps. 9 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry is valued by the school. Given your experience so far, what is your post-MBA goal? Also, if possible try to bump up the GMAT score by another 20-30 points to really bolster your chances. Wishing you the best! You can reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) for a more detailed conversation about your application strategy.

While your GMAT score is slightly low, it shouldn’t matter much. You have good peaks in your profile and a good application and strong essays can take you forward. Clarity in your thoughts on what after MBA will be important to showcase in your essays. PS. We have helped candidates get into IIMA, B, and C at much lower scores too.
Reach out if you need help from IIM alumni who have helped applicants convert successfully in 7+ years.

Need Profile Evaluation (28M Indian Engineer - 675 GMAT Focus - 5 YoE @ Bank of America)
Hi everyone, appreciate your feedback on my profile for R1/R2.
## Stats
Demographics: 27 , Male, Indian Engineer
Education: B.Tech EE, Delhi Technological University (DTU) | 10th: 95%, 12th: 93%
GMAT Focus: 675

## Work Experience: 5 YoE @ Bank of America (Senior Analyst, Cloud & Tech)
Key Accomplishments:
Innovation (Global Gold Award): Automated a 30-min manual process to <2 min (90% gain), earning the bank’s highest award (top 0.01%).
AI/ML Leadership (Global Silver Award): Led creation of a predictive risk model (98% accuracy). Filed 2 US patents in AI.
Impact: Received multiple other global awards for client delivery, strategic reporting, and D&I leadership. Personally commended by the CTO.

## Extracurriculars & Leadership
Budding Entrepreneur : Raising my own startup. Currently in pre-seed stage.
Founder & Captain, Formula Student EV Team (HERTZ ELECTRIC): Founded my university’s first EV team, grew it to 35+ members, secured ₹45L+ in sponsorships (Bosch, MRF), and led to a Top 6 national finish.
Other Key Experiences: Sole university recipient of a fully-sponsored US internship; Community sports organizer (Badminton, 100+ members); NGO mentor for underprivileged children.

## Goals & Targets
Post-MBA Goal: Product Manager (Fintech/AI), then CPO/Founder.
Target Schools: IIM-A/B/C, ISB. Open to global: INSEAD, LBS.

## My Questions
Is my GFE 675 competitive enough for IIM A/B/C and ISB?
Does founding an EV team + my innovation awards (Gold, patents) differentiate me enough from the typical Indian applicant pool?
Are my Product Management goals realistic?
Overall profile for my target global / Indian B schools ?
Thanks for the help!

People who are applying to IIMC, what are you guys writing in the optional essay?
1) Optional is mandatory (that’s my theory for my candidates)— (Rationale: Think of a person who doesn’t want to tell the admission committee about him/her beyond 500 words, even when presented with the opportunity)

2) In the optional essay, candidates are expected to write information that can support their candidature and help the admission committee get to know the candidate better. Hence,
- write any extenuating circumstances that has influenced you (if any).
- Write about your achievements (that goes without much acknowledgement or evidence), otherwise not a part of your 500 words SOP
- Write anything that can improve your candidature for the applied program.

AVOID:
Fancy writing style in this section, and be objective and more direct in writing style.
