Hello Everyone,
Requesting my profile evaluation. Engineer with BTech degree from IIT Delhi, cgpa - 7.4/10. I was involved with multiple extra curricular at college (I was part of dramatics club, music club and placement cell). I have worked at Deloitte India Consulting for over 4 years in the clean tech and sustainability sector, received 2 promotions to Senior Consultant now. My GFE score is 655. I’m looking to apply for Jan intake...
Hi sourabhsingh , I hope you are doing well! Your profile has several strengths, including decent academics from IIT Delhi, extensive extracurricular involvement, and your career growth with 4+ years at Deloitte India Consulting in a niche sector like clean tech and sustainability is a plus. Achieving 2 promotions to senior consultant demonstrates leadership and impact. However, your GMAT Focus score of 655 is decent but an increase of 10-20+ points would significantly improve your competitiveness. Regarding int. exp., working with global clients in a virtual capacity can count, especially if you can demonstrate meaningful cross-cultural collaboration, strategic impact, or leadership in these projects. But yes, direct exposure working abroad or leading projects onsite holds more weight, so focus on framing your interactions with international clients as impactful. Strengthen your application by clearly articulating your goals and how INSEAD’s global network aligns with your aspirations in sustainability consulting or leadership.

If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a 1:1 call with you to discuss your profile in detail and shortlist schools for you. Feel free to schedule a profile evaluation callaccording to your convenience.

Thank you Shantanu for the detailed evaluation, appreciate it. I’m preparing to improve my score as you mentioned given I have 2-3 months for R1 of Jan take, hope for better score.
Also, thank you for the invite for the session but I am not financially well for that expense to be added and have decided to work on essays myself. I would definitely connect incase I think I’m in need. Thank you again for your time...

sourabhsingh I see two highlights that INSEAD can possibly take note of, provided you play your cards well: the IIT D pedigree and clean tech and sustainability. Any projects with strong recall value are worth basing your essays on. The 655 should be improved. If you cannot improve quickly on the GMAT, switch to the GRE and aim for the 330 threshold as soon as you can. International experience is important for INSEAD, but for consulting profiles, INSEAD has become pretty lenient post-Covid. I had a mentee who was recently accepted in R1 without any formal international work experience. The way you present your professional experience makes all the difference.

Best wishes

Hi Ritesh2971,

INSEAD values international exposure so please be sure to highlight the same, if relevant.

In addition, we suggest that you improve your GMAT score further (considering you belong to an overrepresented pool of applicants) to have a more realistic shot at INSEAD.

All the best!

Hi @Nairobisha , I hope you are doing well!
With 9+ years of professional experience, including a Master’s degree in Computer Science (A+) from Frankfurt University and 4 years at SAP with two promotions, your profile looks great. However, your 595 GMAT FE score is below INSEAD’s competitive range, especially for an overrepresented pool like Indian tech professionals. Consider retaking the GMAT, aiming for a 700+ score to align with INSEAD’s standards. I am assuming your 9 years of work experience will definitely help you bring stories related to leadership and impact. What are your post-MBA goals? What’s going to matter most in your application is how you connect the experiential dots and build a great story to stand out from other applicants in the pool. From the information you shared, I believe you have a good shot at INSEAD. However, With a higher test score and a well-articulated application, you can position yourself as a strong candidate. You can go through this blog on Jan 2026 intake, here you will get some insights. We would like to know more about your profile, as the information you shared is brief, and getting to know more details, will help us identify if you can pull out good stories from your experience.
If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a 1:1 call with you to discuss your profile in detail and shortlist schools for you. Feel free to schedule a profile evaluation call according to your convenience.

Hi, I’m requesting a profile evaluation.
23 YO Fresher, Male from India. Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering with 8.00 CGPA from Tezpur University, a central Govt Funded Technical Institution. Been at leadership positions in college clubs.
Planning to give GMAT in 2025.
Please guide me whether I need prior work experience. Or as a fresher with the above credentials, do I have any chances to convert INSEAD with a high GMAT score.
Thankkkksss

Hi @Zash27 ! I hope you are doing well!
So, INSEAD prefers candidates with min. 3 years of work exp., making it challenging to gain admission as a fresher, even with a high GMAT score. To strengthen your profile, focus on gaining impactful work exp., building leadership skills, achieving professional milestones, joining some NGOs, and work on adding a good set of extracurriculars. Aim for a 720+ GMAT to remain competitive. Good luck! Please feel free to “Join Our Exclusive Webinar!" It might help you with some insights.

Ritesh2971 - Your IIT pedigree and GPA are good, but the GMAT could use some improvement, particularly given the competitive Indian Male applicant pool. I would suggest a retake (ideally aiming for 675-685+ GFE) or switching to GRE (if you find it more comfortable).

The work-ex looks interesting, though a lot would also depend on how well you present your professional/ personal arc, career goals, and how an MBA fits in.

Arvind

Nairobisha - Your professional arc is interesting, given the employer brand, promotions and international/ Europe exposure.

Please aim to improve your GMAT score. Given that you're planning for the Jan'26 intake, applying with a higher score (even in R2, if your retake needs time) would be a better strategy than applying with the current score in R1.

Zash27 - Officially, INSEAD maintains that the work-ex range of the MBA cohort is 2-10 years, with the average being 6 years.

I would suggest that you apply for the MBA after gaining some years of work-ex, or consider MiM programs (including at INSEAD), which are open to considering freshers with strong credentials.

Arvind
