If targeting IB or finance at INSEAD, I would strongly lean toward the January intake if you are pivoting. IB hiring is still very structured and heavily dependent on summer internships converting into full-time roles, and the Jan intake gives you access to that pipeline, along with enough time to prep technically and network properly. The August intake can still work, but it’s more suited for candidates who already have relevant finance experience and can navigate off-cycle, networking-driven opportunities, which is typically how boutiques hire.
