Thanks for sharing your profile, aditis15. You have a good foundation. As a female engineer from a Tier-1 college, shows diversity, technical rigor, and credibility. Banking and internal switch to product shows a good signal. Promotion and awards show performance validation. A soft spot is your 7.2 CGPA; it's not bad, just slightly on the lower side of the INSEAD average. If you hit a 705+ GMAT Focus score, it would be really nice. All the very best!

Your internal pivot to Product Management is an asset. It's a good kind of growth story INSEAD likes.

Define your post-MBA goals clearly. Top B-schools value clarity and realism. Try to show leadership (even without big titles). You need 2–3 strong stories, like driving a product decision, influencing stakeholders, or ownership under pressure.

Good Read > INSEAD BLOG.

Questions for you:
1. What’s your biggest quantified impact as a PM?
2. Did you lead any cross-functional teams?
3. Why MBA now vs continuing in product?
4. Any international exposure or global product work?
5. What's your current mock score?

Happy to learn more about your ECs, international Exposure, leadership experience, and what skill sets you bring to support your goals.

Cheers!

Hi Zaf1997! You've got a top GPA, cross-border experience (Spain/Russia/France), and a MiM with HEC Paris linkage, all of which signal strong academic and international readiness. Your data/quant exposure across IB, AI, and manufacturing gives you a good “analytical and industry breadth” angle that schools value. The clear constraint right now is your GMAT 640; for targets like INSEAD or other top European programs, that score will hold you back, especially in Round 3, where seats and funding are limited. With a 695+ GMAT Focus, you move from 'borderline' to 'competitive,' and your profile starts making real sense to adcoms.

If possible, retake the GMAT and prioritize score over timing; a stronger Round 2 with funding beats a weaker Round 3 attempt.

Also consider adding schools like IESE or ESADE for balance. Quick questions to refine further: what’s your post-MBA role exactly, any leadership/ownership examples, and how close are you to 700+ on mocks?

Happy to discuss your profile in detail.

Hi aditis15
For INSEAD, the key criteria are international focus, leadership, ability to contribute, and academic potential. Whichever B-school you are looking at, it’s always a good practice to first go to their website and see what are the program's values and what the school shares about the criteria they use to evaluate candidates. Now looking at these 4 factors, you may rewrite your profile to specifically highlight the desired areas. I can see the international focus is either missing or not covered in your experience, and the same can be said for leadership experience, but maybe there is more context here.
Having said the above, I also want to add that your move to product management is a strong signal about your capability to move things or attain desired roles on your own as well as your learning capabilities. Another thing that you need to think about is not switching your job and staying within the safety of one organisation. You are still a fairly young candidate by INSEAD's standards, so the school would want to know why you feel this is the right time for an MBA when you haven't really explored what opportunities you could in product management outside of your organisation. If you want to showcase a profile that is more in line with INSEAD's expectations around a candidate's growth potential, proving your potential by looking for roles with steep learning opportunities will take you far in the applications process. If you are coming from a fairly traditional banking setup, a move toward a more hands-on kind of a role in a high-growth startup will add another layer of interest to your profile. Should you want a more brutal/honest take on your chances, feel free to have a direct discussion.

Best wishes

Profile Evaluation: Indian Male | 4 Years Exp | Multinational Ops to Finance Switch
Hi everyone, I’m looking for an honest assessment of my profile for the 2026-27 intake.

Background & Academics:

Demographics: Indian Male, Engineer (B.Tech from a Tier-2 institution).

Academics:

10th Grade: 89.6%

12th Grade: 90.8%

Undergrad (B.Tech): 7.73 CGPA

GMAT Focus: Targeting 715 (currently in prep).

Aptitude: Previously scored 99th percentile in CAT.

Work Experience (~4 Years at a Multinational Organization):

Career Trajectory: Cross-functional and growth-oriented. Transitioned from execution-heavy roles (Supply Chain/Invoicing/Oracle data entry) to a more strategic Finance Support/Transfer Pricing role 1.5 years ago to gain broader business exposure, more responsibilities and better project role.

Key Achievement: Stepped into a high-stakes Transfer Pricing project where the previous resource had failed. Successfully managed a disappointed client, delivered above expectations, and directly contributed to the company renewing the contract.

Recognition: Received the Recognition Award from the VP at year end and a "Top Tier" performance rating from my manager for this year.

Technical/Global Exposure: Build Excel dashboards for complex billings and audit reports. Collaborate daily with Treasury, FP&A, and Tax teams across APAC (Singapore, Korea, China) and EMEA (20+ countries), managing data for 20-25 countries.

Extra-Curriculars / Leadership:

Represented school in Basketball at a competitive level.

Student Council member (12th Grade).

Part of the Sales & Marketing team for the college cultural fest.

Post-MBA Goals:

Short-term: Pivot into Technology Consulting or Product Management within a global environment.

Target Schools: ISB, IIM Ahmedabad (PGPx), and leading European programs (INSEAD / HEC Paris / LBS).

You need to think strategically about how you want to pitch your case. For schools like INSEAD, HEC or LBS, simply saying that you grew from a data-punching role into a more peripheral finance role is fine, but it is not necessarily going to wow the adcoms if this is an internal movement and you position it as the main highlight of your profile. That kind of narrative can become tricky. A better way to approach this, and I say this without knowing the full context of your company or role, is to avoid putting too much emphasis on audit-type or data-heavy execution work. Instead, try to position your experience from a more analytical and design-oriented lens, for example within supply chain and extend that into how it gave you visibility into pricing strategies or broader business decisions. Most times even data entry roles can teach you about the subject matter but people just ignore this in the applications. That, in my view, would read much stronger.
Also, try to make your achievements more multifaceted. For example highlight not just succeeding in a new role, but gradually becoming someone who global stakeholders and colleagues rely on to solve a range of problems. That is how you add more depth and interest to your essays and interviews. Most candidates actually have such examples, but they do not focus enough on them.

Another concern is that your goals currently feel quite disconnected from your past experience. If you are targeting product management, you need to show depth. Good products are built by PMs who think from first principles and have a strong foundation from understanding a function, role, or industry . Only then can they build meaningful and intelligent solutions. So if you want to pitch PM goals, you need to strategically weave in your depth of understanding, be it in supply chain, finance, or cross-border operations in a specific field, and show how that allows you to identify gaps and opportunities. From there, you can logically extend into building or contributing to products that solve those problems using technology. Right now, that connection is not coming through strongly enough. Your ECs seem dated, but I am sure there is more than you can think of right now.

Feel free to speak for a deeper discussion

Best wishes

Hi Gun99. You’ve got an upward-trending profile, but right now you seem to sit in the 'competitive but not standout' bracket for top schools.

The good news: nothing is fundamentally broken. With a strong GMAT score and sharper positioning, you can push into serious contender territory, especially for Europe and ISB. Can you please let us know your current GMAT mock score?

For schools: with a ~715 GMAT FE, you’re well-placed for ISB (~60–70%), and competitive for INSEAD/HEC Paris. LBS can be tougher due to heavy competition and your current leadership depth. IIMA will scrutinize leadership maturity and progression, so you’re borderline unless you strengthen that narrative.

Your strengths: Clear growth trajectory, global exposure, impact under pressure (the transfer pricing project is good).

Your main risk: No formal promotion + early roles that sound execution-heavy. You must reframe your story from “operations to finance tasks” into “end-to-end business operator managing global financial processes and stakeholder decisions across 20+ countries.” That shift is critical.

For your goals (Tech Consulting/PM), you need a sharper bridge, finance and ops > tech-enabled transformation/digital finance/enterprise systems. Tech consulting is achievable; PM is possible but needs proof (product thinking, tech exposure, maybe a side project or certification).

To level up:
1) Hit a great GMAT FE score (non-negotiable for INSEAD/HEC),
2) Build 2–3 strong leadership stories (client turnaround, cross-team influence, ownership),
3) Create a spike, lead an initiative, automate a process at scale, or own a transformation project,
4) Quantify impact (revenue saved, process efficiency, scale). Apply Round 1 for Europe/ISB; avoid late rounds.

You can also explore other schools to add to your list, such as IE, ESADE, or ESSEC.

Final questions for you: what’s your largest quantified impact, have you led any people/projects end-to-end, and can you explain why there's no promotion despite strong ratings? These answers will help in shaping your story.

Few success stories: Engineer, 710 GMAT Classic, €40K Scholarship | Senior Product Manager- LBS, INSEAD, IESE (25K Scholarship) | AI Engineer, 700 GMAT, INSEAD and HEC with scholarship.

Happy to learn more about your academic background, extracurricular activities, work experience, and personal journey so that we can provide a tailored profile evaluation and an honest school assessment.

Cheers!

aditis15 - your profile shows potential.

Is there any precedence of undergrad alum in your target programs? Also, the GPA seems a bit low. Any particular reasons e.g. was it low during certain semesters?

Your professional experience is interesting, considering the product switch and promotion. 3 years as of application is a bit on the lower side for INSEAD, so some more details can help assess the profile better e.g. key achievements/ projects, and post-MBA career goals.

[*]Any extracurriculars worth highlighting e.g. arts, sports, volunteering etc.? Also, any international exposure? These are aspects INSEAD values.

Feel free to reach out for a discussion.
