Alright. Should start my prep way in advance in that case.
Also, I read in a few forums that the interview pattern has changed for this year. Can any Round 1 applicant help me understand what the changes are? From what I understand there are also some on the spot essays that we need to write. What is the time provided for that and what are the questions like?
Would love to connect with a Round 1 applicant if anyone can help me out.

Hi,

You can always start your ISB Interview prep in advance. It does take time to create your repository. Sometimes the interview invite has come 4 days in advance, which may seem short, if you are the kind of people who like thorough prep to feel confident.

There are no specific interview pattern changes, the interview has been the same. However, for the on the spot essays, you get two topics that you have to respond to in 20 minutes. You have to log in to the designated portal where you type out the essays, once you report for the interview (report 45 minutes in advance). There's a timer for each essay, and the second topic is visible once you submit the first essay. The questions in R1 can be categorised as situational questions.

These are some topics to get you started on the prep:
1. Someone is being late and taking time off how would you handle this situation.
2. The manager is giving you high value gifts, some of your coworkers have accepted the gift already what would you do?
3. A teammate writes inefficient code that may delay delivery. How would you handle the situation while maintaining team morale?
4. A supplier consistently delays shipments, causing bottlenecks. How would you address this while maintaining a good relationship?
5. A client offers a big deal in exchange for unethical concessions. How would you handle this?
6. Your marketing campaign is criticized on social media for insensitivity. How would you manage the backlash?

Hope this helps!

Hi meenalkaushik

If this is the first school you may be interviewing for, you should start preparing early. ISB introduced a writing section before the interview, but the objective is mostly to gauge your on-the-spot thinking and idea-structuring skills. The written part is not something you should stress about too much as long as you have above-average thinking and writing skills.
The interview is the larger driver of the school's decision. You will notice a lot of emphasis on "Why should we take you?" or "What’s so unique about you?" during the ISB interview. You must dedicate your interview preparation time to brainstorming all the factors that make you unique for a very competitive school like ISB. Generic answers will not take you very far, so you must take the time to first identify that uniqueness and then convincingly convey it to the panel. The goals strategy is equally important.

Here's hoping you will benefit from reading these posts of mine and understand how you can do a detailed interview prep on your own

1. Answering the toughest ISB interview Questions (with examples) : ISB

meenalkaushik - It's advisable to start preparing early for the ISB interviews, given that the time window between shortlist notification and interview would likely be 4-7 days (based on what we've seen in Round-1) or less.

This article would help provide guidelines and question types for the personal interview.

Additionally, make sure you're also prepared for the WAT and 'guesstimate' questions.

WAT covers a couple of short essays (behavorial questions) with a timeframe of ~20 mins. Some examples have been mentioned above.

Guesstimates become important if your post-MBA goals are consulting. Some examples of this would be 'What's the size of the chewing gum market in India?', or 'How many school teachers are there in Mumbai'?. Here, structured problem solving and making (directionally) right assumptions are important. Aim for a logically 'reasonable' answer than extreme precision.

Hope this helps some.

This really Helps. I will go through a few WAP questions on the forum. Also, are there any resources that can help me navigate and form a strong expertise in guesstimate questions?

I did a lot of ding analysis after the R1 results earlier this month with people with 695-745 scores. Majority had nothing wrong with their profiles- apparently, a lot is working with Miracles this year. So... you never know!
