Hi Manosij010,

A low CGPA can be a concern, so it’s important to balance it with a strong GMAT score (ideally 705+). Additionally, your post-MBA goals need further clarity, as they currently appear quite generic. At this stage, there is also a lack of strong alignment between your current experience and your intended post-MBA direction, except possibly in the area of sustainability consulting.

All the Best!

Profile Evaluation: Indian Male | 4 Years Exp | Multinational Ops to Finance Switch
Hi everyone, I’m looking for an honest assessment of my profile for the 2026-27 intake.

Background & Academics:

Demographics: Indian Male, Engineer (B.Tech from a Tier-2 institution).

Academics:

10th Grade: 89.6%

12th Grade: 90.8%

Key Achievement: Stepped into a high-stakes Transfer Pricing project where the previous resource had failed. Successfully managed a disappointed client, delivered above expectations, and directly contributed to the company renewing the contract.

Recognition: Received the "Rising Star" Award from the VP and a "Top Tier" performance rating from my manager.

Technical/Global Exposure: Build Excel dashboards for complex billings and audit reports. Collaborate daily with Treasury, FP&A, and Tax teams across APAC (Singapore, Korea, China) and EMEA (20+ countries), managing data for 20-25 countries.

You need to think strategically about how you want to pitch your case. For schools like INSEAD, HEC or LBS, simply saying that you grew from a data-punching role into a more peripheral finance role is fine, but it is not necessarily going to wow the adcoms if this is an internal movement and you position it as the main highlight of your profile. That kind of narrative can become tricky. A better way to approach this, and I say this without knowing the full context of your company or role, is to avoid putting too much emphasis on audit-type or data-heavy execution work. Instead, try to position your experience from a more analytical and design-oriented lens, for example within supply chain and extend that into how it gave you visibility into pricing strategies or broader business decisions. Most times even data entry roles can teach you about the subject matter but people just ignore this in the applications. That, in my view, would read much stronger.
Also, try to make your achievements more multifaceted. For example highlight not just succeeding in a new role, but gradually becoming someone who global stakeholders and colleagues rely on to solve a range of problems. That is how you add more depth and interest to your essays and interviews. Most candidates actually have such examples, but they do not focus enough on them.

Another concern is that your goals currently feel quite disconnected from your past experience. If you are targeting product management, you need to show depth. Good products are built by PMs who think from first principles and have a strong foundation from understanding a function, role, or industry . Only then can they build meaningful and intelligent solutions. So if you want to pitch PM goals, you need to strategically weave in your depth of understanding, be it in supply chain, finance, or cross-border operations in a specific field, and show how that allows you to identify gaps and opportunities. From there, you can logically extend into building or contributing to products that solve those problems using technology. Right now, that connection is not coming through strongly enough. Your ECs seem dated, but I am sure there is more than you can think of right now.

You have a strong profile for ISB.
Top academics (IIT + 9.2), solid work ex, and high-impact projects (L&T, Aramco, offshore exposure) really stand out.

What works very well:

- Tier-1 academics + consistency
- Large-scale project exposure ($1B+ EPC)
- On-ground leadership (offshore, cross-functional, client-facing)
- Strong COVID and plant ops story
- Research + NGO adds depth

Target GMAT Focus: 675+

What you should focus on:

- Quantify impact (cost saved, timelines improved, scale handled)
- Highlight leadership under pressure (offshore, COVID ops)
- Build a clear story: core engineering → project leadership → strategy/energy consulting
- Show why ISB is the bridge for this pivot

Overall: already a competitive applicant. With 675+ and strong execution in essays, you have a very good shot at ISB R1.

Hi satyam5510,

You have a strong profile for ISB, with your IIT M.Tech, good academics, and nearly 6 years of experience in engineering, project management, and offshore oil & gas. Your international on-site experience is a plus if presented well, and your work during Covid and involvement in expansion projects show resilience and depth. To improve your chances, aim for a GMAT Focus score in the 675–695+ range and clearly show your career progression from process engineering to project management and now towards strategy roles. Your goal of moving into energy or strategy consulting makes sense, but you should clearly explain why you need an MBA, especially in terms of building business knowledge and structured problem-solving skills.

All the Best!

Yup. I have - a couple of friends had the review too.

They might take time as the volume of enquiries would be high currently
Thanks. I was expecting TAT of 48 hrs as per their website, hence asked. Will wait for the reply.
