Hi rohitb007

Your work experience is on the lower side, so you need a strong career progression narrative, and you will have to work extra hard to justify why this is the right time for an MBA. The 655 on the GMAT is not super convincing. At ISB, you need an edge, which usually comes to candidates in your experience group who either come from consulting backgrounds (exposure to multiple clients/industries) or those who have worked in fast-paced startup environments with unique exposure to how decisions are made at the highest levels. So what is your unique story here?
ISB sees a lot of pre-MBA techies/engineers applying to the program.
My recommendation is that you latch on to a uniqueness in your area of work and build your entire application around that. You will have to unpack your experiences and reconstruct them in a way that shows that working on high-impact projects has given you much more hands-on experience, the opportunity to engage with leaders within the industry, greater experiential maturity, and a stronger capability to contextualize business problems related to your field than most young applicants who apply. Always remember that ISB is spoilt for choice and won't blink an eye before rejecting an applicant who has an area for improvement.

Feel free to have a personalised one to one discussion regarding your application strategy with your current situation.

no there's no limit. Do not rush to apply. Apply when you're ready. R1 is better majorly in terms of further planning after your get your results.

Hi StormFlare,

There isn’t a specific safe score, but being close to the class average (around 675+) will put you in a strong position for ISB and other one-year MBA programs in India. Beyond that, your chances will largely depend on how effectively you position your profile, especially how you present your merchant navy experience and connect it to your post-MBA goals.

All the Best!

Happy to connect if you’d like to discuss your profile in more detail.

Low CGPA is a bummer...

Compensate it by a good GMAT and keep fingers crossed.

Hi StormFlare, merchant Navy professionals generally thrive in Operations roles.

In absence of GMAT score, any holistic profile evaluation becomes challenging.

Please target a 655+ on GMAT.

All the best!

655 is already a strong score rohitb007.

But, if you think you can push it up any further, absolutely do do. Will definitely improve your chances.
