Also my work experience is around 3 years currently in an oil refinery, pretty different from usual GEM applicant from IT sector, will it help to give a bit push to my application?
Well, you've answered your own question

It will give a bit push. So, don't bank on it.

A background in medicine and a career in the Army would both work in your favor Srash.

See if you can target 645+ on the GMAT.

Work Experience:
I'm prepared for a journey abroad and to pursue a Master's degree, but something changed. I felt an urge to create a brand and build a business here in India itself. It's been a total of 2 1/2 years since I started working on the brand and 1 year & 4 months since launched. We achieved the right product-market fit. This is a small brief on my work experience.
Since you did find the right product-market fit, why are you willing to forsake it all, to pursue MBA MagicHarmony?

I'm targeting a score of 715+ to get into ISB R1.
That would be an exceptional score and would open a lot of doors for you.

Good luck!

M&A buy side or sell side? What's your role in the transaction? What's your motivation to do MBA? Undergrad score?

M&A and debt funding come across as quite discrete areas of work. Was this career switch a conscious decision Usernamevisible?

I feel MDI/IIM M are more consulting/Marketing/Operation focused colleges and ISB is one of the best for consulting/Product management. As someone who wants to Pivot to PM role, I feel ISB aligns more to my goals. Also since I am now around 4 years of workex - In IIMs I will be around the 8-10% older people of the batch while in ISB I feel I will meet more people around my age. Lastly, I am also weighing in the options of 1 year vs 2 year MBA oppurtunity cost and the brand value of ISB comparitive to these 2 colleges. But my only fear is what if being an average profile - I took the risk and din't receive any call - I wouldn't have any options then and Since its already 4+ years and I want to pivot to a different industry, current work ex wont help much. Really confused what step to take.
> 1) 685+ should be easily done given your 99 percentile (atleast for quant you won't struggle)
> 2) lack of promotion , show progression without change in titles. I hope your role evolved even if you weren't promoted.
> 3) 1 year MBA from ISB is more expensive than 2 years at IIMs. If I may ask what's your reason for not opting 2 year MBA especially after you have good CAT percentile ?
> You would be surprised to know that there is good amount of competition even from PSU folks. Specially calling it
Since you are in the process of collecting informed opinions, I am conveying my opinion very strongly

Do NOT join any school other than IIMs (if you are getting through CAT)

Eventually put yourself to work and take GMAT and score well so that ISB and other worthy options (IIM A/B/C/L) open up for you. It’s very likely that if nothing goes very wrong on your effort side then one of these MBA options will be available to you next year to join.

In B-School admission team
Everybody loves National Players 🙂
Everybody loves CAs 🙂
Everybody loves LLBs 🙂
Specially when a girl candidate brings them

So work on your GMAT and Yes, about your short term and long term role... Discuss them first ... You don’t write on application all the time what you want to achieve ...

sometime selling what can sell is a better option to begin a journey... 😉

Hi everyone

10th - 71%
12th - 66%
BSc (chemistry) - 6.94 CGPA

Work exP- 5.5 years in IT (designation : senior cloud engineer )
Till now NO experience as manager i can say

No such NGO exposure

Please suggest how i can improve things and target for IIMB or ISB , what GMAT SCORE will be must for me AND How i can improve other aspects.
Both your class 12 score and undergrad scores come across as a bit modest @WA@ios6799.

You need to target a really high GMAT score (695+), in order to compensate.

1. What GMAT score should I realistically target to be competitive for ISB?
685+.
Quote:
2. How significant is the lack of promotion as a weakness in my profile?
Unlikely to be a show-stopper at the application stage Gun99, though this can catch arouse some curiosity of the interviewers.
Quote:
3. I currently have calls from some IIMs and MDI/IIFT after scoring 99 percentile in CAT, but my preference would be a 1-year MBA from ISB. How realistic are my chances of getting shortlisted/admitted?
Supply chain background does bring a level of differentiation to your profile. Make sure that your goals are not misaligned with your career experiences. As long as you are able to get 685+ on GMAT (something you seem to be capable of, considering your performance in CAT), a shortlist is quite realistic.

Good luck!

2. 12th - 89%
3. undergrad - B.E - 68%
4. MBA in Marketing from Tier 2 college in India- 8.2 CGPA
5. 5 years work experience in Market research industry
6. yet to take GMAT

targeting ISB for my second MBA

how does my current profile look and what gmat score should I ideally target?
In view of your modest undergrad score, see if you can get a 685+ on GMAT, to compensate it WorkDrop.

Also, please address the "why 2nd MBA" in ISB's second essay.

M&A worked with Deloitte in financial due diligence, covering both buy-side and sell-side engagements in a consulting capacity. Undergraduate performance was on the lower side (~70% - CGPA of 7 to 7.5).

Role in M&A transactions involved identifying risks in the company’s business and financial data, and highlighting these to investors.

Career switch was a mix of a conscious decision to move to the buy side (towards decision-making roles) as well as an opportunity that came through without being actively initiated.

Any score in this range (625-645) might hurt your chances

But it’s not relevant what your score should be... what’s relevant is what’s best that you can deliver.

Deliver your best and apply with that score.

625 scorers also convert ISB
but 675+ scorers are always more successful than 625 scorers😄
Thanks for the help. I'm definitely aiming for a 675+ score
