I second this.

Add on to this a bunch of people with more incentives to take you down than support you and you’re pretty much screwed.

Hello All, I am currently in the practice phase of GMAT FE writing mocks. Planning on applying to M7/ISB in the R1 deadlines. Just wanted to know if it’s possible considering the timeline? If yes, how much time is required for readying the whole application?
Can anyone help me with these?
you should keep a month for the first application and after that, once you are in the groove, it can get easier

you can still aim for R1 deadlines for a1-2 M7s and ISB- just have your GMAT ready by end July and try to work on the apps simultaneously

I would suggest allocating around 2 months for application work if you’re looking at 2-3 schools.

Applying to a mix of schools across R1 and R2 is also something to consider, if you’re unable to get your GMAT score by end of the month.

Arvind

Hi everyone, can someone please help me with a profile evaluation.

10th Standard: 10CGPA/ 95%
12th Standard (Commerce): 94.2%
Did my undergraduate course in Accountancy and Finance from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. CFA level 2 cleared

Been working for the last 4.5 yrs in finance based roles. 2 yrs in TresVista across a couple of Private Equity clients and now at an early stage Venture Capital fund for the last 2.5yrs.

GRE score is at 316. I know this is less and will be working on improving it in over the next month.
Your profile has some very good angles, given the acads, CFA and work-ex. The GRE is unfortunately on the lower side - pls improve it.

Regards,
Arvind

As Arvind has rightly suggested, you really need to move the needle on GRE @WA@dfk2288.

Even if it takes you a few months to get a 327+, it is completely fine to apply in R2 as well.

Hi Aeti,

The IIT pedigree and American express background will add value. The GMAT too looks good. If you feel you have the ability to take the score up significantly, there are a couple of months still, and you may give it a shot; if not, just focus on putting a strong application in place.

All the best!
Aeti

Hi DrHarsh,

You have a differentiated profile with strong academic abilities, potential for leadership, and substantial accolades.

The GMAT score is decent keeping your background in mind; with the existing profile and slightly more specific goals (for example: what sort of consulting or where you wish to take up a managerial role), you stand a good chance.

All the best!
DrHarsh

Hi rmfc119,

Good to see the stable career graph at Amazon. However, with work experience that is well above the average and an average undergrad score, look at aiming as high as you can on the GMAT/GRE. The higher your score, the better your chances will be.

All the best!

Hi Aeti,

If this is the case, just spend all your time and energy working on the essays, going forward.

All the best!

Well, experience is a bit on the lower side (not that you can do anything about it; only time will heal it:)).

If you were consistently scoring more than 675 in the official mocks, a re-take will not hurt; else don’t bother Aeti.

Ashish.
I had volatile scores in the mocks, with 615 being my last mock score. I’m not sure if mock scores are a good representative of one’s true potential

Besides, this was my 3rd attempt since March this year

Hi Prep745,

Good to see a some significant achievements at work and beyond work. They will add value to your case!

Three things will be crucial in your case:
-You already have a PGDM; so, how well you showcase the need for PGP at this point is crucial.
-The GMAT/GRE score (675+ on GMAT should give you a good chance at receiving an interview call).
-How you tie everything together in a compelling narrative.

All the best!

Hi @WA@dfk2288,

To have a good chance at securing an interview invite, focus on improving your GRE to a 327+; at the same time, spend some time laying down your career goals post PGP, ensuring there is sync between what you have done already and what you intend to do post PGP.

All the best!

Hi. Thank you for providing the detailed review and sharing the target score. I have done my PGDM with specialisation in finance and marketing which helped me to reach the career point I am currently at. As I have discovered my interests towards PM and got involved in PM responsibilities, I want to an MBA to get my self prepared for the role. For example Strategy, GTM, problem solving frameworks, learning from actual PM experiences. Please let me know if I am on the right track or if there are any more gaps to fill.

Hi, It's a good profile. I have seen many people from Tres Vista make it to ISB. Try improving your GRE score closer to the class median and then diligently focus on your application.

Hi please help me with guidance whether I should go for another attempt in GMAT or apply

10th - 85% SSC
12th - 85% HSC
Bcom - university of mumbai CGPA is poor
CMA - 2019
CA - 2022

Work ex
2017 - 2020 (CA internship in Taxation, Accounting, and Cost profitability)

2020 - 2021 (Associate to a CA for financial reporting consultancy)

2022 to 2024 - Mahindra corporate Finance and accounts profile

2024 till date - Tata Motors (PV & EV)
FP&A

GMAT FE 655
You have a killer profile (CGPA is only a small blip) -- CA/CMA and Industry experience. Most importatnly FPA role depth might be tested but rare profile. You should definitely apply with 655 FE
