Hi all,
I’m a reapplicant and will be applying to ISB for the third time.

*Co’24* – Didn’t receive an interview call (GRE 320, 3.5 years of work experience)
*Co’25* – Interviewed but not selected (GRE 326, 4.5 years of work experience)

Here’s my profile for *ISB R1 PGP*:

- *Class X*: 10 CGPA
- *Class XII*: 94.2% (Science)
- *BTech (ECE)*: 81% from NIT Jalandhar
- *Work Experience* (~5.5 years by Apr ‘26):
- 1.5 years as Software Engineer at Optum
- 2.5 years as Entrepreneur (IT services + product launch; profitable)
- 1 year as Product Manager at a fintech startup
- Recently joined another startup in a PM role
- *GRE*: 326

Would appreciate guidance on what I should improve this time around.

It is clear that you have put in genuine effort over the last two application cycles, and it is great to see your progress, especially the improvement from 320 to 326 on the GRE. ISB does consider reapplicants seriously, especially when they are able to show how their profile has developed. From what you have shared, there is a lot working in your favor. You have strong academics, a diverse background across corporate, entrepreneurial, and product roles, and now increasing experience as a Product Manager. You are certainly moving in the right direction.

If you are open to it, even a small increase in your GRE score could further strengthen your profile. However, the most important aspect this time will be how you present your journey. You should clearly highlight what has changed since your last application, how you have grown personally and professionally, and how ISB fits into your plans. The reapplicant essay will play a crucial role in communicating this effectively.

Applying in the first round is a smart choice. With the right approach and a refreshed story, you are well-positioned to make it through this time.
Just to add some encouragement, here is the story of someone who got into ISB after their fifth attempt. Sometimes success comes from staying persistent and giving it your best effort. You can watch the story here: Watch here

We would be happy to connect for a one-on-one discussion if you would like to get your previous application reviewed by our team of former ISB Admissions Officers.

Best wishes!

Hi everyone,

Requesting for a profile evaluation -

Academics:
10th – 94% (ICSE)
12th – 85.2%
UG – 8.84 CGPA (IT, VIT Vellore)

Work Ex:
4 years total: 3 at Oracle (significant experience working with international teams & building products used by various countries, won 2 org-level awards for performance), 1 at Athenahealth

Target GMAT: 690+

ECs:
Run a blog on tech, motorcycling, swimming & travel
Was part of ISTE in college, coordinated a tech fest event, active in organizing events across multiple other fests

Post-MBA Goal:
Move into Consulting, ideally product or strategy-focused roles

Would love feedback on where I stand and how I can strengthen my profile further. Thanks!
Academics are decent and you have a bunch of ECs which can be leveraged in the applications. I’m assuming your work-ex is mostly around software development at Oracle but the post MBA goal of consulting (esp. strategy focused roles) seems too broad and disconnected. Be more specific about whether you’re interested in tech-strategy consulting at firms such as Deloitte, digital transformation consulting at XYZ kind of orgs etc or product management itself. As there is a dense pool of engineers with 4-6 yrs of work ex as developers applying to ISB, make sure to add components that helps you stand out. Your target GMAT score of 695+ (assuming you meant 695 in FE) seems good and getting a score in that range would definitely help improve your chances. Wishing you the best. Feel free to reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) for a more detailed evaluation by an ISB alum

Hi everyone,

I am Abhiram, Please provide feedback on my profile.
Academics:
10th – 95% (SSC)
12th – 96%
UG – 8.6 CGPA Mechanical

Work Ex:
3.5 yrs of exp as AI Engineer at National Payments Corporation of India..Build team from scratch and ran successful product on my own from tech side.

Target GMAT: 655+ atleast

ECs:
Run a blog on AI in business, Movie Page not so good
Was part of ISTE in college, Treasurer and Managing Body. Handled around 200 people under me and conducted fest for 1000+ people.

Post-MBA Goal:
Move into Product Managment Roles
Transition from being an AI Engineer at NPCI to PM roles will make for a well connected story. As the competition for engineers with 4-6 yrs of experience looking to transition into PM roles is quite intense, would recommend you to target GMAT score of 675+. Academics and EC pointers seem decent. Wishing you the best for GMAT exam! Happy to connect with you at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) for a more detailed profile discussion.

Hello everyone,
Rajesh here, request to proved me a feedback on my profile for an MBA at ISB
Academics:
10th - 68%
12th - 78%
UG (commerce) - 68%

Work ex-
9 years experience at Amazon, held 3 different roles within the org and currently as an Security & Loss Prevention Manager.
Target a slightly higher GMAT score of 685+ to balance the low academic scores. Would need more information about the nature of your roles at Amazon for a better assessment. Given Amazon’s scale and complexity, project your experience in that context to be able to build a more compelling narrative in your application. Also, since you haven’t mentioned your post MBA goals, unable to comment on that aspect. You can share more information about your profile with us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) to ensure an objective assessment.

Hello, can anyone suggest if the below profile is decent for an interview call, or should I retake the GMAT?

Class 10th: CGPA 10/10
Class 12th: 95.4%
Undergraduation: BTech in Civil Engineering from IIT Kanpur, CGPA 8.1/10 (correspondents to 81%)
Work experience: 22 months, currently working in the Data Science team in American Express
GMAT FE: 675
Good academics and good brand with IIMK and Amex. Given you already scored a lot higher in the GMAT compared to the recent mock scores, wouldn’t recommend a retake now. Since your work-ex is on the lowest side of the spectrum, be very clear in terms of your post MBA goals and how it stems from your Data Science experience so far. Also, add in more pointers about EC or hobbies or passion projects that can differentiate your profile from other Engineering applicants with 2-3 years work-ex tenure. Wishing you the best for your application! If you need to speak to an alum about your application strategy, we are always available for a discussion at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in).

Please provide feedback. Thanks
Stellar profile across all aspects. The school tries to have a few candidates every year from MBBS or medical background. I wouldn’t worry too much about retaking GMAT, 655 is good for your profile. Would request you to start putting your application together and spend enough time to bring out a clear and well thought through narrative. As suggested by others as well, do apply to IIMA PGPX as well as select international B-Schools which have historically helped its alumni transition from core medical background to consulting. Wishing you the very best. We are already rooting for you at Preppie!

Hi everyone, can someone please help me with a profile evaluation.

10th Standard: 10CGPA/ 95%
12th Standard (Commerce): 94.2%
Did my undergraduate course in Accountancy and Finance from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. CFA level 2 cleared

Been working for the last 4.5 yrs in finance based roles. 2 yrs in TresVista across a couple of Private Equity clients and now at an early stage Venture Capital fund for the last 2.5yrs.

GRE score is at 316. I know this is less and will be working on improving it in over the next month.
Having a Non-Engg, core PE/VC background along with CFA level 2 would help you pitch for a role in core finance post MBA. Please ensure to emphasise on the incremental aspects that ISB can help you with to achieve your future goals beyond the skill set you have already gained in the last 4-5 years. As you have rightly acknowledged, GRE score needs improvement. If you’re able to score above 325 and articulate your well in the applications, you’d have a pretty good chance. All the best! Give us a buzz at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) if you wish to discuss anything specific with respect to your profile or application strategy

Hi please help me with guidance whether I should go for another attempt in GMAT or apply

10th - 85% SSC
12th - 85% HSC
Bcom - university of mumbai CGPA is poor
CMA - 2019
CA - 2022

Work ex
2017 - 2020 (CA internship in Taxation, Accounting, and Cost profitability)

2020 - 2021 (Associate to a CA for financial reporting consultancy)

2022 to 2024 - Mahindra corporate Finance and accounts profile

2024 till date - Tata Motors (PV & EV)
FP&A

GMAT FE 655
Good profile overall. CA, CMA with work-ex across good brands such as Mahindra and Tata Motors will add immense value. If you were consistently scoring significantly higher than 655 in your mocks then it makes sense to retake it with a goal of bumping it up by another 20-30 points. If that’s not the case, 655 is fairly decent for your profile and I would rather recommend you to focus on crafting a stellar application. There are enough ingredients in your profile to make up for the CGPA in B.Com. We are always available at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) in case you wish to speak to alums with similar experience.

That GMAT score needs to be go up massively, even if it takes you R2 to apply.

Good luck!
