Hi Guys,

I have a question regarding the age while pursuing MBA. I was just wondering how important is that Age at the time of placements. As per data average age of the batch is around 26 so do companies prefer candidates who are younger or they really weigh the work experience one has.

Now there could be roles which required high work ex but I am just asking for a general perspective.

"Sales & Operation" is a rather unique combination, since "Sales" in b-schools is a function of "Marketing" domain, quite distinct from the "Operations" domain.

Anyway, all this discussion can wait for now. Please focus on getting a very good GMAT score.

Hi please help me with guidance whether I should go for another attempt in GMAT or apply for ISB in R1
GMAT FE: 620

Gender: Female
Education and certifications: Engineering from Tier-1 colleges (both colleges highly reputed)

- BTech: India (7.1/10, 76% low gpa) old IITs
- MS: East Asia (3.77| 4.3, 94%), 2 semiconductor research papers published in top journals
- 10th: 9.5 GPA
- 12th: 88% CBSE

Work Experience:
- Internship: 3 months research internship abroad (South Asia) during bachelors (Published a paper on cancer research)
- Full time: (North east) 4.5 years, exposure working with top management (CXOs) of the company, led a MOU (published in news)
- Industry: Chemicals Manufacturing (top conglomerate)
- 2 Roles in one company : Low carbon chemicals (Strategic projects development), Investor relations (engaged with all kind of investors possible); Got Certificate in Sustainable Investing from CFA institute

Hi Everyone, Could someone tell me, what all documents are required to be submitted related to your work experience while applying to ISB? Do we have to upload the relieving letter? I was working with 2 startup sister companies and i just exited after giving 3 months notice instead of officially 1 month, but they still think I betrayed them or something and are acting funny. Just wanted to know what all needs to be submitted and what is ISB’s verification process? Do they send mails or something for verification from your employer? If yes, then to all the employers or just the last one? Same for relieving letters. Do we submit for all the companies worked or only for the last one. If someone could please answer in detail, it would be great. Thanks.

If you’ve breached a contract with a legitimate organization, it will show up in the background search.

I’ve told this to a lot of people who are committing felonies that it’s harder to get in the business schools but it’s not very difficult to get you rejected

Be mindful of every legal agreement and try to get them to give you some waiver.

Nope No Contract broken. Contract had 1 month notice, gave them 3 months notice. But it’s a startup and does not have many processes. So wanted to know what is the background verification process.

Hi please help in evaluating my profile (Indian male engineer 😭)

GMAT FE: 675

Work-ex: 6+ years as a software developer,
2 years with a tech services consulting and 4+ years in a retail ecomm product. Main reason for pgp/mba is domain change and more leadership opportunities.

Academics:
10th: 10 CGPA
12th: 82.8%
Btech: 8.08 from IEM, Kolkata (Tier 3 college but qualified via WBJEE, probably not relevant)
No gaps in academics

Should I take another attempt at the gmat or should I put all my focus now on the application?
Would love to hear some feedback on the profile as well, thanks!

Having seen the bloodbath in December last year where I provided free ding analysis to the members of this chat, it’s very likely that a work ex + no differentiator + CS profile + avg GMAT (for ISB) might have a hard time in the application

If GMAT is the only thing you can improve, you can do so. But I can honestly tell you that I’ve analysed a 745 reject and he had nothing wrong with his profile

So sometimes it’s just the market forces, can’t help it

Hi!
Please help me in setting the right target for GMAT FE
Indian general female- CA, CFA L1
Tier 1 undergrad (B.Com)
ICSE 10th- 96.4%
ISC 12th- 93.75%
Undergrad GPA- 7.35

2.5 years of experience as of now (had to take 6 months break in the middle because I got sick)- in the first company, worked as an FP&A analyst
The second company, shifted domains and am working as a strategy operations analyst at salesforce
