Hi,

Strong academics, 5 years of experience at Mahindra, early promotions, patents, awards and exposure to leading multiple vehicle programmes make this a strong overall profile. For ISB, I would target a GMAT of around 675 . You should also be a competitive candidate for the one-year MBA programmes at IIMA/B/C/L

Happy to discuss your profile in detail

Phone: +91-9892714308

Aritrakarak
Hi, pls review my profile:

10th – 10 CGPA
12th – 94.6%
Undergrad – 8.6 CGPA, Mechanical Engineering, PSG

I currently work at Mahindra in Vehicle Architecture/Product Development and have ~5 years of experience. I’ve had two promotions relatively early in my career and have worked across multiple vehicle programmes, including BE 6, XEV 9e, XEV 9s and XUV 7XO. Currently leading 5 projects.

I also have 3 patents and have received multiple Mahindra Excellence Awards for my work. My experience is primarily in vehicle architecture, ergonomics, packaging, vehicle integration and cross-functional programme work.

I have also authored a research paper on vehicle ergonomics.

I also have a 3-month work stint with Magna, Austria, which gave me some international exposure.

Outside work, my profile is quite different from a typical engineering background. I’ve been involved in MUNs for 8+ years, including delegating experience as well as serving as a Delegation Head and Executive Board member. I’m also a portrait painter with exhibition experience and a business based on commissions and have been a lead vocalist for my college band. I also am the lead strategist in my family’s hospitality business.

I’m now considering an MBA to eventually move from core engineering toward product strategy, programme/general management, consulting or entrepreneurship.

I’d like an honest assessment of my chances at the top B schools in India, particularly ISB.

How would my profile be viewed? And what GMAT score should I realistically target for ISB?

Looking for a realistic assessment.

Adding onto this, what if my manager has left the position at the firm who I was a direct reportee to for most of my stint. Who do I approach for the LoR instead

Hi! I’m planning to apply to ISB and would really appreciate an honest assessment of my profile and chances.

Profile:
Academics: 10th – 92% | 12th – 89% | University of Delhi, B.Com – 8.01 CGPA
Work experience: 3+ years post-graduation; currently an Assistant Manager. I’ve received 3 promotions in the last 3 years 4 months.
Work impact: Led delivery across 50+ projects, with ₹10Cr+ revenue impact, ₹1Cr+ upsell/cross-sell contribution, 80%+ on-time delivery, ~90% client NPS, 22% faster time-to-launch and 70% fewer escalations.
Leadership: Managed cross-functional teams involving designers, developers, clients, vendors, marketing/content teams and senior stakeholders.
College leadership: Headed Enactus and was a member of the Placement Cell.
Social impact: Volunteered with Yuvaa Foundation during COVID, including supporting people affected by the pandemic.
Extracurriculars: Involved in volunteering, social initiatives and entrepreneurship beyond my core work.
GMAT: Currently preparing - Have my exam on 12th September 2026.

I’d love an honest review of:

How competitive is this profile for ISB PGP?
What GMAT score range should I realistically target?
What should I emphasize in my application/essays?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for honest advice on what GMAT Focus score would make me a competitive candidate for the ISB PGP.

My journey has been a little unconventional. I completed my BHMCT (Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology) and later pursued an MBA in Marketing from PUMBA (Tier-2 business school).

At the age of 17, I started a small event management firm, where I got my first exposure to entrepreneurship, client management, and business operations.

During my academic journey, I completed four internships—two in HR and two in Marketing & Brand Management—which gave me early exposure to different business functions before moving into the corporate world.

After my MBA, I began my career at Tech Mahindra in Business Development & Alliances before transitioning into Product Management. Today, I work as an AI Product Manager at Bajaj Finance, where I build AI-powered lending products and digital customer journeys. My role involves product strategy, user research, roadmap planning, AI feature development, cross-functional stakeholder management, and data-driven decision-making to improve customer and business outcomes.

Academically, I scored 75.68% in Class 12, graduated with a CGPA of 9.66 in BHMCT, and completed my MBA with a CGPA of 8.95.

Beyond my full-time role, I’ve continued building my product management expertise through hands-on AI and fintech projects and product management fellowships.

While my first MBA gave me a strong functional foundation, I’m now considering ISB PGP to gain exposure to a world-class peer group, a stronger alumni network, global learning opportunities, and leadership opportunities that can accelerate my growth into senior product leadership.

Given my entrepreneurial experience, product management journey, AI product experience, academic background, and the fact that I’m pursuing a second management degree, what GMAT Focus score should I realistically target to be competitive for ISB?

I am currently scoring around 615+ in my GMAT Club mocks. I have my exam on 8th sept.

I’d really appreciate honest feedback from ISB alumni, current students, and admissions experts on both my overall profile and the GMAT score I should aim for.

Thank you!

Hi anknown123,

Interesting profile! Target a score of 655+ on GMAT FE to be on safe side.

How many years of full-time work experience do you have?

Apart from GMAT score, I would strongly recommend that you consider building a strong narrative around your post MBA goal and, how your second MBA help you reach there. Your entrepreneurial experience will definitely help. Writing impactful essays with business value articulated and your contributions outlined will be extremely critical.

All the best!

Regards,

Lakshya-Admit
