I've been reading the forums for sometime but never participated. I apologize if this question has been asked before...but I see a lot of 700+ and a handful of 740+ rejects. Any admits in the sub-700 range. 650-670 GMAT?

Just curious. Wish you all the best...hope we all get the trenches we'd like to spend 2 years in.

About a third of the class at Kellogg has a GMAT score below 700. GMAT is important, but there's many other factors that adcom is looking for when they review the application and interview. So, you'll see plenty of people with 700+ and even 750+ who get dinged while <700 get admitted.

GMATclub tends to be skewed toward the high end of the GMAT range, so don't draw too many conclusions on who's getting in or not getting in based on the stats of people here.

Thank you Aditi for the answer. Could give us any idea how many words did you devote to the last part of the question.. And how many leadership experiences did you mention in the essay. I am trying to discuss three but that leaves me with no space for the last part of the question.
Thanks again.
I discussed two leadership experiences that showed how I had a great impact but displayed similar leadership styles (about 300 words). I then used the other half of the essay to talk about ways I wanted to develop new leadership skills/styles and the things I'd do at Kellogg to make that happen.

I would say you shouldn't discuss more than two, choose the two that have the most profound impact and also reinforce characteristics the school cares about.

like 2012 dreams I also described only two experiences. I only spent about 100 words on the second half of the essay but I don't think there is any set formula for that - just use however much ever space you need to articulate clear areas that you want to develop.

Hi Aditi, 2012dreams,

can you please elaborate on how much words did you people took for the essay 1st part I (Briefly discuss your career progress ..)

and usually should one
1) talk about accomplishments and/or
2) All the companies that one has worked for

Some guidance on this will be really helpful.

TIA

Wow, spend 3 weeks on vacation with very limited internet access and come back on here and the front page looks very impressive. Good job guys/gals. Now that I am back in the real world where internet doesnt require a phone line, I plan on being much more available to you all.

kellogg's R1 deposit deadline is 31 March 2010. Do they ever grant extensions on the deadline? and if so for what kind of reasons?

Hi all! Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays.

I received my acceptance last Monday, the 21st, but have yet to receive my acceptance package. To those accepted in the US, have you received your acceptance package yet? If so, when did you receive your acceptance call vs. package? Did it come by FedEx, etc. as opposed to regular mail?

I'm debating whether I should call the Admin office...

Having the acceptance package in my hand would make me feel a lot better (and more confident that the Adcom did not make a mistake ;) ) Thanks!

MBAgril311,

I got my packet exactly 6 days after receiving my offer. If your offer was communicated to you on the 21st of December, be aware that the Christmas holidays and the inclement weather might have slowed things down a bit.

Good luck!

Guys,

Request guidance on essay 1 (career goal) of Kellogg-

Did you mention Club participation, etc in career goal essay given the fact that Kellogg essay 2 / 3 gives ample space for this?

Thanks a lot

If it fits with your career goals and if you have enough space, absolutely yes.

I did

how much of the leadership essay did people put how they will do at Kellogg? To me, it seems like after listing 2-3 example (plus desc.) it shouldn't be more than 15-20% of the essay. I put more focus on the areas to develop (about 30%)

also, anyone else still struggling with the student adcom essay? I have two concrete examples, but struggling to articulate a more abstract part of my personality. its just hard to overlook "admissions file" part of the Q.

Regarding the student adcom essay, imagine a student that just finished reading your file, and is convinced that you must be in the class and is writing his speech to the rest of the adcom. Start the essay with an "after evaluating John Smith's profile..." and then go through your main strenghts. Then go through academics, work experience and extracurricular. In the last two, talk about how John Smith would add to the class (mention a club). At the end, a small conclusion/wrap up.

PS. Jerz, I have already posted that I've been accepted (12/14, MMM), but don't see myself on the list in the first post. Feel free to update it!
