Hey guys,

Regarding the Kellogg application, the Part I Employment History section requires full time employment history. I couldn't find a separate section for part time employment - are you guys adding that to the Employment History section?

Thanks!

all quiet. there's a bunch of anxious JD/MBA applicants on business week too. no news.

And they're all talking about me. You like me! You really like me!

It is somewhat interesting, though. Has anyone else heard of someone getting dinged yet from the joint program, besides me? I haven't. I re-read my essays, and they were fairly crappy, the interview was OK/pretty good, stats are competitive. Something's not adding up - that is, unless there have been others unnamed who were dinged also.
well, they only take 30 jd/mba's or something small like that. you REALLY have to prove why you want to do the program and if you wrote about finance, i can see how they might not have seen why you needed the JD other than to pad your resume - not saying you did that, but many applicants see the 3 yr JD/MBA as a super bargain. what's one more year for two top degrees!

is it bad to skip the adcom interviews when they come to your city? kellogg is sending adcomms out here for interviews jan 20-22 (seems like there's only slots for about 20 interviews). i will have just finished my HBS app and i am in no way ready for the interview process, plus i prefer alumni interviews; they're usually less formal, relying more on general conversation, which helps me immensely.

nope, I don't think it matters. I had an invite last year, but I was actually flying to chicago to visit kellogg at the same time. I just said no. They have tons of people that want to interview with adcom. they probably can't fit everyone into the schedule anyways.

Newbie here!

A quick question to you all.

Can anyone tell me how on-campus interviews are scheduled? I plan to submit Part 1 asap and was wondering - once you submit Part 1 and after a few days, do you call up adcom to find out the available dates for interview then pick the most convenient date for you? If so, I guess the quicker you submit Part 1 the better, as you'll have more dates to choose from?

Any insights on this would be much appreciated!!

indaclub2012,

The process for scheduling on-campus interviews is made abundantly clear on the Kellogg website. It wouldn't hurt to actually review it: https://www.kellogg.northwestern.edu/Pro ... lines.aspx

To answer the latter part of your question (which is not made abundantly clear from readily and publicly available Kellogg sources), my experience indicated that the further away your date is from the Part I submission deadline (for on-campus interviews), the greater ease of on-campus interview scheduling flexibility you're afforded. I was informed (by a friend who interviewed around the Part 1 deadline) that the Jacob centre halls were crowded (her description) when she interviewed, but I, who interviewed almost six weeks after the Part I submission deadline (for on-campus interviews), met only five other interview candidates.

Good luck!

When you call the admissions office, they ask you what date/time you want and check availability. I called them today and they seemed to have good availability and I got my most preferred date for Saturday morning.
That being said, I also think that several people will be locking in interview dates as PartII deadlines come nearer, so I would recommend calling sooner that later if you have travel restrictions etc.

Do we have to call for off-campus interview also. Or will the admission committee email me? I submitted Part1 but have not heard from them.
Please answer.

I just received a mail from the adcom saying that my interview was waived
I seems difficult to them to find an alumn in my area. This is not really a surprise :P
I hope I will have at least a phone interview after submitting the second part (but I hate phone interviews!)

hey guys,

Am in a sort of a conundrum. I was initially planning to apply in round 1, but couldn't get to the essays in time. I did, however fill up part I in which I mentioned the following:

Position after MBA: Strategy Consultant
Industry: Consulting Services
Long Term Goal: Entrepreneur

However, I've revised these goals to the following, in light of some deep reflection in the past 2 months.

Position after MBA: Technology Business Development (M&A)
Industry: Software
Long Term Goal: Venture Capital

My essays, which I shall be submitting soon, also mention my new goals, and my interview, which I think was excellent, also had conversations around my new long term goals. I'm pretty certain the interviewer was taking notes and pressed me in quite detail about my plans.

Now, my question is, how do I control the damage done by this mistake in Part I? Do you think I should write an explanation (essay) for it, or is it not considered important enough, especially since everywhere else, I maintain a consistent view of my goals.

When did you submit your part I ?

If you are an international, and a 2Y or an MMM applicant, then I guess you are the one of the first persons in R2 to hear back from the adcoms

I am a 2Y international applicant. I submitted part 1 quite early, on the 15th of November.
