I know MANY people who won't sign up to those groups on facebook right away. Reason being that if you are friends with a coworker/superior that doesn't know about your plans....well, you just pretty much told them in their newsfeed.

I haven't joined yet for that specific reason. I am pretty sure they verify your admit status before letting you join the group (it is a "closed" group). However, for those curious, you can see a member count for closed groups without membersip. Just search for "kellogg 2012" in facebook and you'll see the group. I'd find the direct link for you guys, but I'm using my cell phone for internet while traveling. Hope this helps

I was not asked for verification before I was allowed to join the group. I could very easily have not been accepted.

this forum is so addictive! i keep following the thread even after i got the dreaded "best of luck in your future endeavors, and thank you for your interest"! :-D
by the way, for the stats - the ding letter is dated 03/18 - which is a thursday... i had a bad feeling about thursdays... will start working out my plan B.
to all those still waiting - if Kellogg doesn't admit you, another school will, or if Kellogg doesn't admit you this year, they will do so next year, or the year after... if you want it - you'll get it! sooner or later that is :)

oh yes, i'll go check the status page once more... maybe there was a mistake

ya, I don't think Jeremy (a JDMBA student who started the group) verifies, but I don't think it matters. I can't imagine a reasonable applicant would join if he/she didn't get in, there is no point~

but I agree, the number over there doesn't mean anything.

This is very quiet today.
Is Kellogg preparing a massive ding/WL for tonight? Or will we have to suffer another week before we hear back from them?

Hmm.. Interesting. I fall into that category of Indian in US who haven't received admit/ding. I interviewed on campus. But it's almost impossible for me to believe that kellogg will club all Indians in one bucket irrespective of age/extracurriculars/gpa/GMAT/we/essays. Please someone refute this theory and tell us how ridiculous we have become.

First post. F/31/2 year program/730/Engineering/India/Non-profit education experience of 6 years. Got an interview waiver and not heard since, so from what I read and hear its more likely to be a ding. No word yet.

Since there have been a few recent posts on the admission process, wanted to share my two bit. The Kellogg process seems less transparent to me, compared to some of the other top schools. Their official line is that a waiver is awarded if there are too many requests from a city for an interview, and it does not affect your chances. However, I am not clear as to how they make these choices of waivers from within a city? They also seem to say that the file is not opened or reviewed until an interview decision is made and processed. So if they are handing out waivers based on a study of my application and presuming its not 'random', they are obviously using some criteria for interview waivers. What are these? Especially since the consensus seems to be that if a waiver is awarded, chances of a ding are higher - precluding the small %of phone call interviews that do go out.

Am I missing something here??

Waivers are random. The applications are NOT read before waivers are granted. Once granted, they are then put in the pool with all the other ones. The only part that isn't random is that if you get a phone interview after getting a waiver, your chances are very good, because that means they like the rest of your app and want to add the missing piece.

monkbent,

Is the review process for MMM application different from the 2Y application's review process?

I know that there is a single team for both but are the MMM applications evaluated by a special committee after the usual 2Y process?

Just curious..

Dinggg Donggg Bellll!!!!

Ouch. Got to know through the status check online.

Best of luck to all those still in the race!!

Kellogg is a great school and it was the only one that I applied to last year. I know that K doesn't provide feedback on applications, but I'd still like some tips on what I could do better next time. Are there any successful re-applicants on this board?

The admissions office is closed over the weekend, so you can relax because no decisions are going out until Monday.
