This is directed to current Kellogg students or anyone that is already done with the essays...When you wrote your essays and wrote the "Why Kellogg" portion in the essays what approach did you take?
Right now I am not mentioning specific details of the classes or Prof XX or a certain club I would join because I think most of that speaks for itself.
The approach I was thinking was to speak about my interactions with Kellogg alums and students. Is this approach too general? I just do not want the adcom to read my essay and think I did not do my homework on the school because I did not list off specific things about the program.
Thanks for any advice. Go Cubs in 2010
I'd tend to shy away from name dropping unless it's someone important. Other people may have different beliefs on this. I mentioned 2-3 classes that were unique to Kellogg and a couple of clubs/ECs that were also fairly unique to the school.
IMO, it isn't a very smart idea to mention the Consulting Club or something. Other's may disagree on this one. IMO, you want to really differentiate yourself by mentioning unique aspects of the program.
