So, I've been accepted at Kellogg and WL at Wharton. They're both good schools, and I'm sure I'd have a great experience at either. Do I pursue the WL?

I assume others are in similar boats. How are you deciding?

Well Zorro, I'm biased both ways (applying R2 to Kellogg and on the waitlist for Wharton too), wish I could give you better advice!!

Re: essay 1...

Unlike most other schools it doesn't specifically ask you to address "why Kellogg/why now?" when talking about why you want an MBA. What's the consensus on including Kellogg-specific stuff in that essay, or talking about why this year is the time to do it? Everyone always says the biggest mistake people make is not answering the question so I don't want to waste words covering stuff that's not asked for.

I apologize if this has been addressed earlier in this thread but I didn't want to comb through 99 pages.

@emont, I wonder if you might be able to do that effectively through the peer review essay?

For couples applying, is there a place to specify that your spouse or partner is applying for the same term? In Part 1, there is place to enter name of the spouse or partner if you're interested in the Joint Ventures Club but that's not for an applying partner. Would be good if we find out the decision on same day etc. :)

Thanks!

My 2 cents ... I think "why now" part is implied in the why MBA question. And for the why Kellogg part, I've included it too as (I think) I couldn't really speak about the classes or majors etc. I'm excited about in the 3rd essay. I've put most of the career activities in 1st essay and the rest of the activities in 3rd essay.

Hi Zorro

My Gf was in the same boat....though she had admits from W and K...

There is no doubt that both schools are great and anyone will have great time there. Her long term goal is to go in General Management (GM) and she hates Finance. So choice was slightly easy and we picked Kellogg over Wharton.

However i beleive that 6 or possibly 7 out of 10 applicant will pick Wharton over Kellogg but i think its a personal choice and you need to see which school is a better fit for you.

I am sure you will be more than fine at either school.

Cheers

I say go for Wharton so those on the W/L at Kellogg have a better shot at getting in! j/k, I think you have some time before you have to make a decision with Kellogg so hopefully Wharton tells you either way soon. I think the question you need to ask first is if you get accepted at Wharton, which school would you go to? Can't go wrong either way...

Just had my Kellogg interview, off campus with an alum. Really nice guy, asked standard questions, Why MBA, Why Kellogg, tell me about your job, and a general leadership question. Odd to think that aside from submitting the essays its a loooooong wait ahead. Is there anything that anyone else did in between submitting Part 2 and decision date, or is it just waiting time? Also, I have not had a chance to visit campus yet, I know this was touched on before, but would "showing face" at campus improve chances?

RFMBA, when did you submit part 1? Also, can you note what area you live in?

It doesn't hurt to pursue a WL but judging by the insane number of WL Wharton handed out, I wouldnt get my hopes up. Also, Kellogg frequently gives out money with their financial aid packages. All that said, I cant say I had that debate since I didnt apply to Wharton...trust me you can't go wrong with saying screw it to the Wharton WL and just embracing Kellogg. Sometimes its nice to have a head start on the planning and what not.

My interviewer shared with me that he was debating between Kellogg, Wharton, and Harvard. In the end he picked Kellogg and really loved it.
