I have a question for those interviewing at Kellogg. I have applied to round 2 and I have an option to either interview Feb 14th or Feb 22nd. I'm trying to figure out if interviewing late (Feb 22nd) will have any competitive disadvantage?

I have talked to a few current Kellogg students and admissions office and they all seem to say that I can even interview on the last possible day, March 5th and it would not be a disadvantage. However, decisions come out end of March and I'm sure Kellogg adcom is reviewing applications and making decisions as applicants finish interviews. In that sense, it comes a "rolling" process and number of available spots for the class starting in Fall 2011 become fewer.

Anyone with more knowledge of Kellogg's inner-workings know whether interviewing a week later would be a disadvantage at all? An extra week would be nice to prepare for the interview.

Thanks in advance!

If you just want time to prepare for the interview, then you shouldn't push it back. You have plenty of time to prepare for an interview on Feb 14th. Unless you plan to have a scripted response for every single possible question, I would get it over with and relax. I don't know if it will make a big difference in admissions, but it can't hurt to get yours done early.

Agreed. Feb 14th is over a week away and while it won't hurt you admissions-wise to wait til the 22nd, there's no need to prolong things. If you spend 30-60 minutes on three or four occasions between now and the 14th you'll be fine. I've spent a cumulative total of about 3 hours preparing for my 3 interviews so far, and didn't feel at all unprepared for any of them. You can't prepare for all possible contingencies so I don't see any point in spending dozens of hours on interview prep. Just know your story and your reasons for an MBA at that school, and go in to the interview relaxed.

ill be visiting Kellogg tomorrow and was wondering if any Chicago'ans could tell me the best route to take from MDW to Evanston at around 8:30am. I would like to hit the least amount of traffic as possible, so should I take:

1. 55 to Lake Shore Drive North all the way,
2. 55 -> 90/94 -> Ohio St - > Lake Shore Drive
3. 55 -> 90/94 all the way up north to around Skokie

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You are going to get slammed by traffic driving at 8:30am anyway you cut it. Taking public transportation is not a good option either, if you attempt to map it you will realize its not going to be fun. My advice is take lake shore...even better try to get a different flight and go into Ohare. Midway sucks to get to/from during rush hour. It can take hours. Hope you dont have an interview scheduled early in the AM.

The Kellogg status check page clearly mentions "Decisions will be released throughout the round, but the majority of decisions will be released during the last several weeks of the round".Is this a subtle way of saying decisions are made on rolling basis? Was this the case in R1?

I saw on last year's thread they call the admits throughout the last few weeks of the round and everyone else gets an updated status. So, not quite rolling b/c there's a deadline but not Duke with the one and done decision dates. Anyone with more insight feel free to chime in.

I will be staying in Chicago for a couple of days so I needed to rent a car therefore public transportation is out of the question. I understand that traffic is going to be killer on any route I take, but the least amount of pain the better. Thanks for your suggestion River, I will hike it up lake shore.

Any updates from R1 waitlisted candidates?
I've sent in a response to a couple of areas of concern that my waitlist manager informed me about.

They informed you about areas of concern??
When I talked with my watlist manager, she said they didn't have the practice of giving any feedback and the only thing she could tell me was that the process was very competitive.
Not very helpful, indeed...

I called the wait list manager in early Jan. She seemed to take a quick look at my application and mentioned that AdCom didn't have any specific area of concern regarding my application. Apparently, in such cases, it is more a question of class composition and profiles of applicants in subsequent rounds.

I recall other applicants from previous years' threads sending a response to specific areas of concern.

I just had my off campus alumni interview. Pretty standard questions besides one that kind off threw me off:
What kind of mark do you want to leave at Kellogg? Caught me off guard and took me a little while to come up with an answer.
Also my interviewer asked me if I had considered the MMM program (I'm an engineer). I read on Clear Admit that they ask this question to the engineers systematically, so be prepared to have an answer ;)
At the end she told me that I could send her an email if I had any questions. She also said to let her know what the final decision will be. I'm not sure if that's a good sign or not. Do you think that interviewers would ask that to people they don't want to recommend? Maybe, maybe not...

I wouldn't read anything into it--all three of my interviewers have asked me to keep them posted on my outcome.

Yeah I thought so too. If I was interviewing applicants I would like to know what the outcome would be too.

I think there's been 1 or 2 clubbers who've been invited after getting a waiver initially. No such luck for me yet!
