I have an interview scheduled in a couple of days. My goal has changed a bit since the time I submitted my application.

I understand that the interviews are blind. Do I need to mention that my goal has changed slightly while answering the goals question or can I just talk about the new goal?

Would the interviewer/adcom be comparing the goal I stated in the interview vs the goal I wrote in the application.

Please guide.

I think that if you want to state different goals in the interview you should make sure to tell the alumni that your goals have slightly changed since you filed your application. Obviously you need to explain why as well. However, if I were you, I would try to be consistent with what I put in my goal essay imho.

I wouldn't stress too much about this. All the interviewer is going to have is a copy of your resume. Interviews in general are more about fit and culture, like, is this a person that will be successful at Kellogg. More than likely you are going to have address "why MBA" during the walk me through your resume, or tell me about yourself part of the interview. If you don't talk about your goals and why a Kellogg MBA will help you acheive these goals during this part of the interview you are missing a tremendous opportunity. Anyway, I would simply say that your goals have changed a bit recently, and explain why. Just be honest and open. You'll do much better that way.

Visited both Booth and Kellogg on Monday. So surprised by the difference between the two facilities. It was kind of night and day.

Curious to hear your thoughts on that. What did you think about each? Was it because Booth's Harper Center is relatively new compared to Kellogg's Jacob Center? Or that the former feels like a giant mall in comparison to the latter? Or something else?

I'll be the first to agree that Jacobs is a bit lacking, especially when compared against Booth. To be honest, the first time I walked into Jacobs as a prospective, I was like "there is no way in hell I'm paying 150K to go to school in this dingy building and face this crush of humanity!"

Now one quarter away from graduation, I can honestly say Jacobs rarely detracted from my experience, and in some ways actually added to it. Reasons:

1.) B-school is WAY more about the people that you are with than the building you are in. Is it nice to be in a state of the art facility? Absoulutely. But, at the end of the day, is it better to have a great culture fit in a crappy building, or an awful fit in a great building....I'll let you all argue about that.

2.) In the cramped confines of Jacobs you actually have to opportunity to meet many more new people and see your friends more often. Is it crowded sometimes? Sure. It is endearing? Absolutely.

Just my two cents.

Thanks for your input. Agree that the people you attend school with and the network that you get to connect with throughout your career are way more important. Facilities matter only to the extent that they enhance or detract from your learning or socializing experience (for example, if a campus lacked some central meeting point and made it hard to interact with classmates outside of class, or the converse of that). Appreciate your second note on that front.

I preferred Booth's facilities (new with lots of light coming in). But know I shouldn't really factor that into my decision (assuming I'm lucky enough to have a decision to make). I've always thought Kellogg would win no problem, being the marketing powerhouse that it is. But I had a great visit and really enjoyed chatting with my interviewer at Booth. Not as much of a slamdunk as I thought it would be. But truly, I don't think anyone could go wrong at either school.

When do you think admission decisions will start rolling out for round 2?

Judging by R2 last year and R1 this year, admits could start as early as ~March 5 and run up through the March 29 deadline, while dings or waitlists will probably come closer to the end of that window.

I received an interview waiver today. It seemed odd they sent it over a month after receiving applications (even though according to their site, they ostensibly send waivers before they begin reviewing my application?) Also, I'm domestic and I had scheduled an on-campus interview, so I don't see why this would've been too difficult for them to accommodate logistically - leading me to believe it's something in my application. Is this a bad sign? If anyone has any feedback or can shed some color I'd appreciate it.

That doesn't seem right to me. For round 1, the decision deadline was Dec. 20 and people started hearing between Monday (Dec. 6) and Wednesday (Dec.8). That is only 12 to 14 days before the deadline.

The R2 decision deadline is March 28, which would indicate that we will start hearing between March 14 and 16. Is there some reason you think it would be March 5?

I thought I remembered seeing March 5 somewhere a month or so ago, but I may well be imagining things.

Based on last year's thread, it seems that the R2 notification window is longer than R1. The first GMATclub notifications went out on March 9 last year with a March 29 notification deadline, so I think it's reasonable to guess they'll start rolling out around March 8 this year.

I just checked and you are correct. But last year Round 1 also happened earlier (longer window). The first admits began on Dec. 4 and the decision deadline was not until January 11. I think this year they may just be releasing admits over a shorter window.

If it's a shorter window, that means later (i.e., the first admittances will come closer to the March 28th notification deadline). But who really knows - we'll just have to wait until the first people report hearing back and stress everyone out. :)

Where do you check to see your interview status? On the application status page it just says this for me:
Quote:
All the required elements of your application are complete.

If your interview has been completed, the application has been submitted for review to the admissions committee. If your interview has not been conducted, the application will be submitted to the admissions committee upon completion of the interview......

Mine still says "Submitted" as well. I interviewed on 1/17. Should I be worried?
