Few questions on the 1Y program for any current students or if someone heard at a recruiting event

Do you need to be returning to the same industry? I understand that makes things easier from their perspective but just curious about how it works in reality.

Anyone know how many applicants try for the 80 seats in the 1Y program?

Can't speak to part 1 of your question, but re: part 2...

I attended an info session a couple days ago and the admissions officer seemed to dodge a similar question posed (someone wanted to know the number of applicants to the MMM program). She did mention it's usually similar across the board (plus/minus 1 percent) relative to the number of seats in each program.

Long time reader, first time poster!

Just submitted round 1 after editing final essay. It's been a crazy 2 months finishing these apps, but a pretty great ride no matter the outcome. Now let's just hope my last letter of recommendation is submitted!

You don't *have* to return to the same industry in the 1Y program, but the program is best suited for people who aren't looking to make big career changes. Since you don't have the opportunity to do an internship, recruiting in a new industry will be a lot harder than it is for students in the 2Y program. Internships are a low risk way (from the company's perspective) to take a chance on people new to the industry, whereas for a full-time hire companies are going to feel a lot more comfortable hiring someone who has previous industry experience.

There were 89 Round 1 applicants last year, versus 38 of us this year. I imagine a few more people will come out of the woodwork to announce they've applied -- still... this is quite a difference.

Has anyone received confirmation email from Kellogg for R1 application? I believe all the materials including the recommendation letters were in before the deadline, but my online status hasn't changed so far and no email received yet. Thanks.
