Waivers are due to the ratio of applicants to alums in an area. In some cities in there are far more applicants than alums who are signed up to interview, and they dont want to ask an alum to interview 20 people. This is why some folks get waivers...if you are waived it is not a sign you are out of the running. If they like you they will contact you for a phone interview (I dont know if they have gone the skype route yet like some schools). However, you will not get in without an interview, so waiver to phone interview is a sign of application strength. I dont know the timeline but if you don't get an interview invite after a waiver sorry but you will not be getting accepted.

Thanks for the insight..we're pretty much in the dark here... for the benefit of those of us with waivers, could u tell us how the decision of giving a waiver vs giving an interview is arrived at? E.g. If 10 interviews are requested in city X and only 5 can happen, how is it decided which 5 candidates get the interview call? I speculate there would be a large contribution of perceived merit in taking this call. Since interview slots are a precious commodity, I'm sure they would want to utilize them most judiciously. So, although the ppl with waivers are not out yet, they are probably also not the "best quality" applicants from their city. Just theorizing here...

Thanks

I am really not sure whether any merit is involved or not (specially in Indian interviews). But what I think is that all the application esssays are going to be read for sure and even if one gets an interview waiver ( May be based on Part one data, but I believe its pretty random) one has all the chances of getting an interview call after your apps are reviewed. This is what I could infer after talking to a few current students..Hope that helps..

Looks like calls started going out Dec. 7th last year... so a month from today. Has Kellogg released anything in terms of a plan this year for decision releases? All I have read is that all decisions will be completed by Dec. 20th.

My first post guys, I am an Indian applicant working in California and interviewed 2 weeks back off campus with an Alum. He was a really nice person, and during our emails for scheduling, he specifically mentioned that I should not wear a suit. He was in jeans and a dress shirt and I was in business casuals and didnt feel overdressed at all. I was initially planning on a suit, but kept the idea aside after he said, I shouldnt worry about my attire for the interview.

Good luck!

Has Kellogg posted their employment report this year? I haven't seen it yet, but maybe I'm just not looking in the right places...

Just had an alumni interview over the weekend. Thought it went well overall, so I'm optimistic about my chances. Looking back on it there are 1 or 2 places where I could have said something a little differently but overall I got my story across and I think I gained an advocate for my candidacy. I used the clearadmit wiki to get a list of questions and practiced telling my story in front of a mirror, which was definitely helpful. I highly recommend doing this to get your practice in before the real deal.

Alumnus was a recent grad so he was able to provide a lot of good answers/insights to my questions.

Anyone have any thoughts on when results will come out? Does Kellogg usually wait right until the deadline or does it trickle out for a few weeks before?

Just had my on-campus interview. I'm actually down in the Kellogg cafeteria pecking this out on my iPhone while waiting fo a class visit - then off to O'Hare to catch my flight home. Trying to soak it in. There was hip-hop music and a dancing Gumby when I walked into the building. These students like to have fun - I would love to enroll here.

Overall I think the interview went well. The adcom was very nice and made me feel comfortable. No unexpected questions. They just want to get to know you beyond what's on paper. Good luck everyone.

The admissions officers said decisions are rolling. I'm thinking we'll start to hear back the Monday after Thanksgiving.

It's a little bit crazy this week because it is the final week of the marketing competition. It reminds me a bit of undergraduate student body elections, but jam packed into one building instead of a large campus.

That was over the top even by marketing competition standards. I think they had a loop of about 8 songs going. I don't know how many times I heard House of Pain in Jacobs today.

Does Kellogg have a tradition of releasing decisions prior to the decision date?

Kellogg is supposed to have a rolling decisions schedule, but ALL applications are reviewed by the Director of Admissions (after being reviewed by an admissions officer and a second year student) and, when I visited around ten days ago, they told us that Beth wont be reviewing applications for the next two weeks, so I wouldn´t wait for any decision till early december...
