How come some applicants get interview 2 days after applying others wait 10+ days?

Either someone got lucky or her/his application is outstanding and meets the criteria of the admissions committee. I applied 2 weeks ago and haven’t heard back yet.

At this point we can pray to whatever Gods or stars and be patient!

Look at the last 10 pages ...what a MESS!

No transparency whatsoever KELLOGG

They are basiclaly just trying to get people to apply so they can ensure their cashflow for next year.YIKES

I mean not sure if the school does it for the fees. How much do you think they would get from it 50-60k? What is the salary of one assistant at Kellogg?

I doubt that Kellogg or any other schools extended deadlines (waived test score requirement) because they wanted to generate extra revenue. There could be other motivations.

Interestingly, there used to be a message in the top right corner in my Kellogg's application portal that said something like "thank you for applying in rolling R3, we will be in touch about your interviews in the next few weeks. With questions email interview coordinator at ...." Now this message is gone.

Agreed. The extra revenue they may be generating is negligible and perhaps barely offsets the cost of staff required to review additional applications. Maybe they do need the extra revenue, but it should come from the additional students that would accept offer regardless of virtual classes, as I'm sure they are expecting some admitted candidates to defer this year.

that message about "we will contact you about an interview within next few weeks" disappeared from my app page. The move probably aligns with previously stated message that Kellogg is not going to interview all of its extended R3 applicants. Another thing is that they probably just finished looking at regular R3 and are moving to review the extended applicants. I have not received an interview yet despite submitting my app on 4/30 and (rec submitted 5/3), which is a negative sign IMO. Next few weeks will probably tell. On a positive note, I have not been a waived interview, which I guess is a positive sign. It is an uncertain situation for sure. Stay strong, fellas.

Now I’m confused... in my portal page the message of “will be reaching out for interview updates” is still there....

How much time does the adcom at Kellogg takes to evaluate the application and come back with the next steps in the rolling admissions round?

Same here! I still have the same message on the portal. I guess we'll just have to wait and hope for the best :)

It seems like all candidates are split between those who see the message and those who dont see the message. One of those groups will probably get the invites while other will get a waiver aka get rejected.

Also might have to do with whether or not you've taken the GMAT - there's someone on here who just applied a few days ago and has gotten an interview invite probably because he or she is an easier candidate to evaluate for adcom because he or she took the exam as opposed to someone who did not. Just my two cents.

My gut still says that the announcement to encourage applications without GMAT cannot be for namesake...a columnist in Poets&Quants recently said that they are diligently following up on this..also many ad consultants are praising this move...
I still expect atleast 5 seats provided for applicants without GMAT score..obviously their overall profile must be too strong..but it can't be all for namesake...they have a reputation to live upto..

I'm not saying Kellogg won't consider candidates who have not taken the GMAT. However, the adcom will probably review the ones who have taken the exam first and the ones who have not later on because those candidates require a more involved evaluation process. It might explain why some candidates have longer wait-times for a response than others.
