Hey everyone!

I’m Saif Kanchwala (London Business School Alumni and Admissions Interviewer)

With R1 deadlines for the 2027 intake only a few months away, now is really the time to start thinking seriously about your applications and overall story.

I know how stressful the application process can be, especially trying to balance GMAT/GRE prep, study / work, applications, essays, interviews, and life all at the same time.

One thing I realised through the process is that you are far more than just your stats. Essays, positioning, narrative clarity, recommendations, and school fit matter WAY more than people think. I personally got into INSEAD plus multiple M7/T15 programs with a 595 GMAT, so I saw first-hand how important the overall story can be.

If you’re applying this year and feeling stuck on essays, school strategy, interviews, recommender choice, or overall positioning, feel free to reach out through my website for a free profile review and deeper chat.

How was your experience with LBS and post MBA experience?
Are you still in UK for your career?
Hey! I absolutely loved my time at LBS. The experience itself was incredible. I met some of my best friends for life there and genuinely learned a huge amount, both personally and professionally.

Academically, the electives were a real highlight because electives are shared across programmes, so you end up meeting people from all kinds of backgrounds and industries. LBS is also one of the most international schools in the world with 90%+ international students, so my friends and network are now spread all over the globe. The clubs and treks were also a huge highlight.

What really stands out though is the strength of the community. It’s incredibly close-knit and supportive. I’ve been to 6 LBS weddings around the world in the last year alone, with a few more coming up this year!

Post-LBS, I stayed close with a lot of my cohort and have worked with many LBS alumni throughout my career as well. I’m still based in London and honestly feel the network and friendships continue long after graduation.

Ultimately though, like most things, you get out of it what you put in!

Applying to London Business School this year?
One challenge many applicants face is figuring out how to stand out when they come from backgrounds that are heavily represented in the MBA applicant pool, such as consulting, finance, technology, or engineering.

Our CEO, Jenifer Turtschanow is hosting a webinar on this topic and will discuss practical ways to differentiate your application beyond test scores and job titles.

Topics include:
1. Identifying what makes your profile distinct
2. Turning professional experiences into compelling stories
3. Understanding expectations for highly competitive applicant pools
4. Getting recommendation letters that add real value to your application

Date: June 12, 2026
