Um, just saying, I'm a woman with a 770 GMAT and 3.67 GPA and an Ivy undergrad and 4 years consulting experience (though I don't work for MBB) and I didn't get an invite. Not sure about your female-preference theory...

I'm with you.
Female. 5 yrs leading CPG company. Gmat 760. 3.7 GPA, top undergrad.
Dinged w/o interview hurts.

Just wanted to add on. Female, 4.0 ivy, engineer w/ Masters, 4+ years in industry with several promotions. Not sure they were just looking for women this round. I felt like the whole process was disorganized though compared to experiences with some other schools.

Disorganized in what way, if I may ask?

Maybe it was just the result of deemphasizing R2. Other schools seem to be very streamlined in how they released invites with predetermined dates for the rounds, but for Sloan it seemed to be more of an afterthought. There was also very little info provided about when/where the interviews might take place, with the implication that you would be given very short notice if you were invited to interview. Also strange to extend the R2 deadline for applications, but then interview seemingly so few candidates. They've been doing this awhile, seems like they should know what to expect.

I'm with you. My brother went to Sloan 2 years ago and even he thinks something is odd about the way they ran R2 this year. It would have been great if they had set expectations for R1 vs. R2 difference. All schools say apply in whichever round, it shouldn't matter, but here it seemingly did. Some of the folks posting here with outstanding stats would've probably got at least a freaking interview in R1.

Anyway, as you can see I'm still stinging from this. And I agree with someone else's comment too - their unconventional essays and recommendations really didn't help. Sigh.

Dinged Round 2. Female, 26, BS in Chemical Engineering from NE private university 3.3 GPA. 4 years of work experience including consulting and biopharma. 680 GMAT. Not particularly shocked I got dinged, but surprised Wharton interviewed me and Sloan didn't. Oh well!

FROM Sloan Admissions Blog: A Social AdMIT Weekend
AdMIT Weekend was packed with 6 classes, campus and housing tours, and featured social events which demonstrated what the MIT Sloan experience and culture is all about. It was wonderful to host so many of our admitted students and their significant others on campus!

A first-year student guide, Nicole recapped the festivities in her recent blog post. For AdMITs who weren’t able to attend, we posted live social media updates using the hashtags #MyMITSloan and #AdmitSloan. You can also experience the weekend through all the posts, photos, and videos in our Storify collection. We look forward to hosting our Round 2 Admits in April!

For what it's worth and hopefully it's a small measure of comfort, on AdMIT weekend for Round 1, they noted a much higher number of applications and a lower admittance rate than in years past (I forget the exact figure but it was sub 10%).

For R1 admits, formal decisions and deposits were due in late-Feb. Following the deadline, Sloan conducts ID verification and background checks. My guess is that the R1 yield was much higher than expected, which wasn't known to AdCom until the last week or two. Just my thoughts. Also, there was a question earlier why no one was waitlisted vs. dinged outright. I think you can only be waitlisted if you advance to interviews...

I got this email. I was actually signing in to see if people from dingville would apply to this program. I think I won't. Waiting to hear from the Kennedy School

L&G,

good luck to those who received invites, and those who didn't this is not the end.
Did you see any changes in you application status? What it says? Submitted and Being Evaluated?

Anyone still waiting on an interview? What is the process if you did not receive a "ding" last Friday?

Wharton has almost twice the admission rate as Sloan.

Sorry to all the dings. Seriously like Normandy in here. I am actually shocked and will be curious to see the numbers after the smoke clears.
