Re: Calling all MIT-Sloan Applicants(2015 Intake) -Class of 2017 [#permalink]
Are you wondering what the hot MBA jobs of the future will be? Take a look at these six up-and-coming jobs that US News & World Report highlights as well-suited for business school graduates. Not surprising, they all command solid salaries, and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts hiring growth in these industries.
Here are US News’s top picks:
Operations research analyst: Higher-level operations research analysts usually have an MBA with a specialization in production and operations management. Consider top schools, such as University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and the Michigan Ross School of Business.

IT Manager: These professionals supervise employees, communicate with internal executives and outside vendors as well as plan various tech upgrades for their employer. Check out the excellent program for information systems at MIT Sloan School of Management.

Management Analyst: These professionals provide feedback on improving an organization’s efficiency and profitability. Competitive candidates have a few years of experience in operations, and have earned an MBA with a focus on management. Stanford Graduate School of Business and Harvard Business School have top programs.?

Financial analyst: These professionals help companies determine when to buy and sell investments.  The Chicago Booth School of Business and the NYU Stern School of Business offer top finance programs.

HR specialist: These professionals work with a company’s employees, by doing anything from recruiting them to training them to explaining their benefits. HR specialists don’t need an MBA, but the degree will help them stand out from the competition.

Information security analyst: These analysts monitor and protect an organization’s computer network and systems. Companies prefer to hire those with an MBA. The UT McCombs School of Business and Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business are top-notch programs for studying information systems.

As you can see, employers are looking for skilled managers to lead the way in today’s global economy. Business and management degrees can be a powerful driver of confidence and opportunity to achieve those ambitious goals.

Congrats to all who have gotten R2 invites, and good luck to those of you who didn't - there are many great schools out there!

Does anybody have additional information on the deferred acceptances? I'm concerned with whether they were forced deferrals or optional (based on scholarship offers). Thanks in advance!

What deferred acceptances are you talking about?

so quiet here, how are the interviews going? Any LGO applicant (rejected by LGO but considered for MBA) heard from the admission?

Literally just had my interview! Pretty informal but still very professional. Nothing out of the ordinary, though I still found it a bit challenging because the questions were so rapid fire. Really hoping for the best!

Did you see any changes in you application status? What it says? Submitted and Being Evaluated?

I was dinged on March 7 (solid 700+ GMAT; GPA a bit challenging; Intangibles solid). What is really weird though is someone from MIT viewed my Slideshare Optional Essay file on the 17th - ten days later. I'm trying to figure out why that would be. Any ideas?

FROM Sloan Admissions Blog: April Ambassadors Days!
The Ambassadors Program:  is a great way to experience MIT Sloan’s culture and community firsthand. Register now for the spring semester. I would also like to highlight two special Ambassadors opportunities.

Veteran’s Ambassadors Day:  on April 16 – Participants will attend multiple panel discussions and meet our current student veterans. Brian, a Veterans Club officer wrote about the many levels of support he received from the MIT community. Our Ambassadors Day is a great way to experience what MIT Sloan has to offer veterans.

LGBT Ambassadors Day:  on April 30 – In addition to the Ambassadors class visit and lunch, attendees will meet with the MBA Program Office and LGBT Club members to learn more about the open and honest community at MIT Sloan.

We hope to see you at one of our April events!

My guess would be April 24-26. They couldn't do it after that because their deposit would already be due, and the other two weekends would be really close to the admit decision.

Did anyone else get this email from admissions?

"We are putting the final touches on the Round 2 Decision List.

On Monday, April 6th, all applicants will receive an email by 5:00 p.m. ET notifying them of their MIT Sloan Round 2 Decision.

Please let us know (by responding to this email) if your mailing address has changed since the time of your application and/or if your plans have changed, and you no longer want to be considered for the MBA Class of 2017. There is no need to respond to confirm your current information. "

I received that email as well. Given the questions they asked, I think it's a good sign.

I'm not reading too much into it. If anything, it's just a recognition on Sloan's part that the decision will come nearly 3 months after the R2 deadline. That's a pretty large window for people to move/switch jobs/etc. that could result in updated contact info.

Good luck to everyone waiting though! Monday will be here soon!
