I am not sure if this has been mentioned earlier on this thread, but does anyone know what % of the applicant pool does MIT invite to interviews?
Businessweek number is 17% interviewed vs. 13% accepted, which means if invited to interview, chances of getting accepted is higher than 75% ? Am I missing something here...?
Yeah it definitely is a mystery. In this interview with Rod Garcia (
https://blog.clearadmit.com/2009/06/admi ... od-garcia/), he explicitly said they admit "50% of those interviewed." Definitely contradicting, right?
OR MAYBE.......it depends on the round. I read somewhere that an adcom member said MIT Sloan receives ~33% of their total applications in Round 1 and the rest in Round 2. Maybe since they try to admit about the same amount and there are many fewer in Round 1, they admit a higher percentage of the people interviewed (~70%) and a smaller percentage in Round 2 (~50%). I don't know....When I first sat down for my interview this week, my interviewer made a point of telling me that I should be proud of myself and congratulated me for "making it this far in the application process." They said it was a great accomplishment. I bet they admit a higher percentage of Round 1 interviewees than Round 2. But it evens out in numbers in the end (or comes close at least)
