I am in the same boat. Haven't heard a thing since I submitted my application in r1. No ding, no interview, no wait-list either. I'm also based in India.

Same here... :( This is so very frustrating... I wish the MIT Adcom would be a little more responsive...

I have a friend who was on the same boat last year as you guys are this year. She ended up not hearing back until the decision notification date, at which time she was put on the deferral list. I have a feeling the number of interviews Sloan invites post-Dec invites is based on how well the interviewees do to fill up the class.

Hi Guys,
Great Forum!

I applied R2 for MIT Sloan (Submitted Date: 1/4/2011 5:43:00 AM EST) and still didn't recieve a confirmation email or any other email from the Adcom.
When I login to my application I only see: Submission Status: Submitted

Is it normal?
Did any of you received a confirmation email?
(I did receive a confirmation email from all the other schools I applied to)

Thanks!

Hmm.. I got a confirmation e-mail from them "Application Received". I doubt that it means anything as long as it says "submitted" on your page. Did all your recommenders get their stuff in?

Yep. Recommenders show submitted as well, both even submitted before I did.
I'm wondering if I should email the adcom or not.
What do you think?
Thanks.

If I remember correctly from first round, the adcom stated that applicants should consider their applications complete unless they contact you directly.

I wouldn't stress too much about it. Mine says submitted as well - got it in a couple of days ahead of the deadline. My SloanSpace account says that I submitted as well. I did receive the confirmation email after I hit submit though. You may want to double check your contact info is correct on your application and your spam filter. Apart from that, just sit back and relax. :)

Wondering if this has anything to do with "Region" (Specifically - India).

Seems to be a logical conclusion. if anyone does happen to call MIT, do ask them what next..

it is a tech school but the most popular hiring will come from strategy consulting (MBB) and banking like any top MBA program, these two fields will account for a huge chunk of the class

the mistake so many people make is packaging MIT u/g with Sloan and I think it leads to their downfall

You're 100% correct, but I do think that MIT's technical reputation/prowess helps make Sloan a more entrepreneurially oriented business school. The 2010 employment report notes that 8.5% of graduating students were starting their own business, which I think is probably much higher than any other business school.

Well just for the stats here: Another Indian from CA.
Sorry for the pessimism here folks but there are 63 folks of 115 on GC who have either not been Dinged or Interviewed. This could very well be because some on these 63 may not have updated their status on GC. But still, thats a large number considering theres going to be a big inflow of applicants from R2. I am preparing myself for a Ding on Jan 31. Why would Sloan keep so many in limbo. Even if there is fallout from R1 interviews, how much can that possibly be ??

Curiously I think the exact same argument about the undergraduate stereotype and reputation could be made about UChicago and Booth, except that perhaps the reputation at Booth would be in quant-based finance.

Thanks for the stats valleyboy... This does throw an interesting light on the possibilities... pessimistic, but interesting... :(
