Hi Everyone!

Has anyone got any idea about the Interview deadlines for R2 ??

I mean, after the applications have been submitted on 04/07 Jan, has the adcom said anything about the time-frame by which they will start sending out the interview invites? Also, once someone get an invite, how much is the time lag between the invite & the date of interview .... Basically how many days of preparation can one expect to get after the invite has been given?

Thanks everyone ! Best of luck to all :)

Apparently R2 invites are supposed to start going out in early March, and I got about 6-8 days notice for my interview. I had plenty time to prepare. But I'm in NYC too, so I don't know if notice is the same everywhere. I think applicants from certain international places get more notice (if the adcom knows they have to travel to the hub spot)

A lot of sitting and waiting going on over here. It's brutal... Days feel like weeks, and weeks like months...

I think the status is supposed to remain like that until the decision day.

Well just for the stats here: Another Indian from CA.
Sorry for the pessimism here folks but there are 63 folks of 115 on GC who have either not been Dinged or Interviewed. This could very well be because some on these 63 may not have updated their status on GC. But still, thats a large number considering theres going to be a big inflow of applicants from R2. I am preparing myself for a Ding on Jan 31. Why would Sloan keep so many in limbo. Even if there is fallout from R1 interviews, how much can that possibly be ??

Eh..I'd be willing to bet money that is not an accurate reflection of the admissions process right now. You can't possibly know the people who never updated their profile after receiving a ding or interview. So I'm sure it's way less than 63 that are actually in limbo. It's almost mid-January, I can't imagine they'd purposely hold you in limbo for too much longer. This is the week that I think Rod Garcia goes through all the new applications and distributes them to the adcom. On the bright side, you haven't been dinged. You could have been dinged....but you haven't so maybe you're just deferred. Or maybe you'll get an interview invite next week! Try to stay positive! I know its hard!!!

I so hope you are right!!
Another theory to explain this could be that Adcom is assuming that most of the applicants who are potentially going to be "Deferred", will probably decide to go to H/S/W is they are accepted there. This could save them the trouble of interviewing these candidates in R1 and then take them more seriously in R2 as potential students at Sloan.

I have another view! If H/S/W are going to open the doors for those applicants – as you mentioned above, it’s impossible for MIT to miss the chance – fighting for outstanding students with other top schools. I would rather think MIT will verify those applicants who are probably accepted by H/S/W and send offers to them as well. It does ‘save them the trouble of interviewing these candidates’.

I don't think that it works that way. Sloan will make its own decisions and let the chips fall where they may.

i detailed mine here in the forum if you look over the past few pages.

the interviewers were very nice, at least the three i got to say hi too

the emphasis is on leadership and how well you respond to change, convince people, and overcome obstacles to solve problems

think of some general experiences to cover those area, my interview said to discuss new instances rather than the ones i used in my essays

i did not get any resume questions but i know a few people did kind of as a warm up

best of luck to you

I was an international applicant and had three weeks' notice of my interview.

One comment is that candidates who are interviewed are asked to bring an official copy of their transcript with them - so if it will take you some time to get an official copy from your undergrad school, go ahead and order it now!

As for the interview itself, very friendly, but I found it very hard to second-guess the interviewer's decision. Not much longer to wait, thankfully!
