Thanks CyberC1 for the information! Hope they're honest about their friendliness toward reapplicants. I'm reapplying and completely changing my essays. Hope that'll give me a better shot this time.

Is MIT Sloan friendly to reapplicants? What are usually the key things that reapplicants have to show in their reapplication to succeed? Career progress? Volunteer activities, or just a better crafted essay?

At the information session I attended the admissions officer indicated that MIT Sloan is very friendly to reapplicants. Not sure how that translates.

One more thing, I read from a transcript from 2002 that the admit rate for reapplicants to MIT was 48%. Again, old information but certainly telling.

I'm sure that number has changed significantly. I ran across this article claiming acceptance rates are down substantially across the board, though the source for those #s is not given. I can't imagine MIT is anything above 20%.

Which is unfortunate, 'cause I'm another re-app here myself. Toss me into the rollcall boys, here's to hoping I'm a statistic!

It would also be very helpful to get the transcript from the admissions chat at 10 am yesterday. my browser at work did not let me access the live chat :(

How come there is only space for two job positions in the online application? Am I missing something?

And there is not even espace to put the "job location/country"...

No, that's how it's supposed to be. Ross was the same way.

They have a resume, so they don't really gain much information from the employment portion of the application. I like it.

How is everyone approaching Final Date of Employment (or expected) in the application? Leave it blank? The 'expected' part has me confused. :?

As part of the cover letter: "Describe your accomplishments and include an example of how you had an impact on a group or organization."

How have people gone about addressing this part of the question? Trying to figure out what adcom are looking for here...

Guess there are a few options:
- Listing achievements and elaborating on what I exactly did to impact an org (could be done in bullet form)
- A few sentences on overall accomplishments e.g. 'ranked x% in class / peer group' etc, followed by a relatively detailed example of impact on an org

Any thoughts??

Another question!

Are people sometimes referencing the same examples used in the cover letter with other essays?

Could work either way: providing brief description of example in cover letter could intrigue adcom for other essays vs. using same example limits demonstrating breadth of experiences............

Starting with the 3 essay questions first, I've naturally focused on my most substantial accomplishments - which I'd also like to showcase in the cover letter!

I think you can introduce the impact example in the cover letter and elaborate that example in one of the essays.

Another cover letter question: The word-limit is 500, but the letter doesn't necessarily have to fit in one page, correct? The instructions on the application don't specify a one-page limit for the letter (as they do for the essays) so I'm guessing not, but I just thought I'd check in case I missed something.

I believe that the cover letter is expected to fit on one page, which makes the 500 word limit difficult to exceed. With MIT, I'd suggest keeping all of your documents (cover, essays, resume) to one page each.
