Dinged by HBS and Wharton. Now banking on Sloan. Count me in too.

Yeah, feeling pretty down about Wharton too. Just got a ding today after WL last year (Rd2). The more and more I go through this miserable experience, I'm starting to be convinced that a large chunk of getting in is luck. This process is really subjective. Having a committee that can empathize with your essays, your career goals, and your passion is key, and unfortunately for me, I didn't get that this year.

When are the interviews invites expected to come out. Also most schools are going to send invitations mid December, but MIT is only end of Jan. If you really want to go to MIT, how do you play the acceptance vs. waiting game???

Count me in for R1.

Can any current student enlighten us junta (for non-Indian folks, Junta means Folks in Hindi) as to when the interview invites are released?

Sorry no answer - but if you look earlier in the thread someone mentions that last year interview invitations began to trickle in in early December. They need some time to read all of our applications!

By the way, I would have written it as 'janata' as in 'Bharatiya Janata Party'
'Junta' has a very different connotation (and pronounciation!) to most people, as in 'Military junta' :-)

When I attended info session Rod told that during November they would just read all applications. Invitations for interview would come by mid-December and interviews would be conducted in January.

Actually I think you get a confirmation email from MIT, stating the following:

"Thank you for your interest in the MIT Sloan School of Management.
We have received your online application for the MIT Sloan MBA Program and will prepare it for review by the Admissions Committee.
Please consider your application complete unless you hear from us by email. You will be able to access your decision online the day of the decision deadline.
Sincerely, The Admissions Committee
MIT Sloan School of Management"

I attended Ambassador Program last week and ADCOM said that applications are gonna be read throughout November, invitations by mid-December.

No message is gonna appear, like changing from submitted to complete. As we saw in the email they sent us, we must consider it complete unless they call us saying that something is missing.

Hope to have helped.

I do not think that online status will change. Not sure from the email they sent out when we all submitted

The status will change to "Complete and being evaluated" after you receive a second email:

"Dear Mr. XXXX:

We have prepared your application for review by the MBA Admissions Committee of the MIT Sloan MBA Program. Your application is complete and on time and our decision will be available online on or before April 5, 2010. Your application status has been updated to "Complete and being evaluated." There will be no further status updates until you receive either an interview invitation or a final decision.
We have prepared the following material that we hope will answer most of your questions about the next steps in the admissions process..."

Based on last year experience

I think we will receive another email regarding a change in the app status

Umm I definitely did not receive any confirmation email when I submitted. Did anyone else receive an email?
