well guys another question. when it says a decision date of jan 31.2011 does it mean that that is the day the successful people would know? similarly for apr 4, 2011? I missed R1, so wondering how soon can I know now (assuming not outright rejected)...

On the MIT Application Deadlines & Decision Schedule page, the "Decision Release By" dates references the "**" footnote that says "Decisions will be released early for some candidates who will be denied admission without an interview."

So I'm interpreting this to mean only final admit/waitlist decisions will be held off until Jan 31 (or Apr 4 for R2) and those of us who do not get invited to interviews (i.e., outright rejected) will learn our fates before those dates.

so can it happen that someone is waitlisted in R1 and is waitlisted all the way until R2 date of Apr4? or one would know the decision at the end of each round? thanks.

Just to be sure, do we have to report GMAT scores through the official GMAT website to MIT Sloan, especially if you did it last year? Does the score have to be resent every year or does MIT Sloan keep it on file?

If you reported the score to MIT once, there's no need to report it the second time. However, if you haven't, you have to do it through mba.com.

The status for my recommendations has not been changed - it still says "notified" for one of my recommenders. He said he had submitted the recommendation last night but I did not get an email. Is the application slow in updating the status at this stage? Or should I write to / call AdCom to ask if there's been a problem?

I hope this doesn't push me to R2. Aaaargh

it updates pretty fast, and you should have received the email almost immediately...you might be better off calling the office...that is if your rec writer really submitted it...

yes..can happen, as far as i know based on my experience with other schools...in fact you can submit r1 and keep waiting all through the summer as far as july/august in some cases....

I got an email soon after my previous post. Its after the deadline though still on 10/26 - I'm going to call just to make sure that its ok. From the previous posts on this thread, I'm guessing a few hours' delay should not push me to R2.

I submitted my application for R1 on the last day! I must admit that in all the B School applications I have worked on, MITs were the best set of application essay questions!

well i was under the impression that 300pm EST was enforced and any delays would automatically make it R2, so did not even bother submitting now.. Would like to know what the office said to you - did they let it go in R1 or let it in R2.. For my education I guess...

I think mbag2012's situation was slightly different. The applicant's submission was complete by 3pm, and the recommender submitted the night before but for some reason it didn't show. I think from earlier in the thread, it was mentioned that there was some leniency if the recommdenders were slightly late, but not if the applicant was late.

Yes, both of my recommenders were late, but the adcom told me that I would be considered for R1 if they submitted yesterday (which they eventually did).

Hello everyone, in fact I have a silly question... I have already submitted the application for R1 and then I found that I did not put either Rod's or my address in the cover letter... I wonder whether I could contact the admission office to recall the application, replace the cover letter, and submit for R2....

I thought we are only submitting self-reported GMAT score?
