Has anyone from Texas received any interview invites from MIT Sloan?

In for Round 1 (M/29/760/UG GPA - 3.5/Masters GPA - 3.91/SAP Consulting)

Has anyone received an invite for an interview in NYC (as in the interview will be there, not on-campus)?

Yes, received invite Tuesday morning.

I was sure that when I submitted my app and paid the $250, it was going to be the worst waste of $250 I'd ever spent--and then I proceeded to browse the web for purses that were a better use of $250, alternating clicks with fits of self-pity and anxiety. That was before entering "zen" mode. These days I'm thinking, "Whatever! I'll just reapply next year! Or maybe not at all!" Well, I'm honestly pretty surprised and pleased to receive the invite, but I still highly recommend zen mode.

Anyhow, I think if you haven't received a ding there is no reason to give up hope. I recall the application process explicitly mentioning that invites can be sent anytime up through the Jan 31 decision deadline for Round 1 candidates. Man, these boards can definitely be highly distressing! ZEN!

feeling nervous about the nyc invites now .. Congrats to those of you who have gotten them though! Can you share what the date ranges for your interviews are?

Hoping the best for the rest of us on this forum!

Congrats on the interview invite, closetsnob. I agree that until we hear back definitively, there's always hope.

Next week should be eventful for some. Last year, a bunch of invites/dings went out on Friday, 12/18/09 (which corresponds to next week's Friday, 12/17/10). Here's hoping to some good news.

Also, we've already matched the total number of pages for the MIT applicant thread from last year. This time last year, the MIT application thread was only at 20 or so pages. We reached 20 pages back at the end of October! Wonder if this year's applicants are more excited about MIT, if people are more nervous this year, if GC has more visibility with applicants, or something else.

Never late than never for me too, count me in for round 1. Although looks like unlikely for an interview at this rate.

FYI an e-mail response I got back from the admission people actually said they will be doing interviews as late as February 3 this year!

Lol!! That's how I felt (self pity, anxiety and all) too, except with me it was shoes. Congrats on the interview!

How are they planning to release decisions by Jan 31st then? From my experience, Chicago Booth's Adcom is a definite winner in handling this torturing process.

FYI:

There were about 90 spots to interview in Cambridge prior to Xmas, in the interview scheduler system. Currently 9 are open.

Interesting. If MIT Sloan interviews 800 each year and they are split roughly equally between each round, we are talking 400 interviews in each round. Let's say 45% of interviews happen overseas (~same as % of international admits), then maybe 220 odd interviews are held in various US cities in R1. If 80 odd interview slots at Cambridge have been booked already then it seems ~40% of invites have already been sent, especially most (if not all) of north east ones... :?:

Considering adcom travels to US hubs to interview, I'm pretty certain invites to interview on campus have been sent out. After the massive ding day, they'll probably invite a few more and periodically invite some to interview on campus to fill slots. Living in the NE, I'm pretty certain my chances for MIT are slim to none.

I think 220 interview spots in Cambridge is an over-estimate because many of the interviews will also be held in US hub cities.

Right. I edited to correct for that. Still it seems NE is largely done

Did anybody in the Midwest get an invite? If invited in the Midwest, do you travel to Boston to interview or go to a hub city (Chicago?)?
