great profile, i do not think it will be too damaging to your profile (of course I have no professional insight).

I find the MIT Admissions people to be pretty down to earth and flexible. I submitted a new GMAT score a week after the deadline and they said it would not be a problem (2-3 other people on here had a similar experience).

They also let me submit a picture (it was a combat picture to explain a situation I explained in essay 1).

based on the snapshot of info you gave, i think you are a great candidate. even if you were late, you still showed you cared by getting it in as soon as possible. i do not think they wil deliberate over you being a few hours late when you were working on an international project. Maybe I am retarded but I wouldn't.

Good luck,

Yikes! The countdown ATL has started - does the geography supersede the local / international applicant standing? I'm Indian, but live here... :?:
P.s. Congrats =) you've got a stellar profile!

has anyone from the south (below DC) received an invite? i am overly worried because I am being a retard, i live in the greater Atlanta area at Fort Benning army installation.

Congrats to all those who received invites

I'm in Atlanta and got my invite to interview on campus two days ago (12/6, ~5.30pm EST).

CitiBizDev, no, it won't adversely affect your application. The worst they could've done is pushed you to R2. They didn't.

You have little to worry about. Good luck, now! :D

So...just thought I'd quickly post my situation here to get some thoughts:

I was dispatched on an urgent last minute business trip to London (I work out of NYC) the week of the MIT R1 deadline. Was pulling double time to try and put the finishing touches on my application and also fulfill my various work responsibilities. With the time difference and everything, I ultimately submitted my complete application at 5PM EST on deadline day, when I believe the deadline was actually noon. I called admissions (from London) and they stated that it would still count as an R1 app, but would be designated/stamped as a "late". Since it's a done deal i cant really stress about it now, not much in my control...and certainly fully understand that everyone has their own extenuating circumstances to deal with and that therefore there is no room for any kind of excuse. Just was curious what (if any) thoughts ppl had on how negative of an impact this will have on my chances.

For what its worth, stats are:
770, 3.45 Materials Science, decent EC, 3 years of WE at matriculation in Citigroup Business Development (executing due dilly / inorganic transactions for our corporate banking business).

Apols for the long post, and appreciate the forum it has been very insightful throughout the process

To the posts about this person's post:

1.) Admissions is much more than stats. The stats are right within MIT's range, so it matters what the rest of the apps, specifically apps and recommendations, looked like, and whether they flowed together as a story. If there is any discord, you're in trouble.
2.) The quality of your undergrad institution makes a difference.
3.) The entire admissions process - keeping others (recommenders) on top of deadlines, meeting your own deadlines, writing clearly and concisely, interviewing well, preparing for the GMAT, attention to detail - is ultimately testing skills that you will require to be employable. **** happens to everyone - but when it's does, lets admit its impact. Rod Garcia has stated before that errors in the cover letter could get an applicant a ding - what's to say a late app wouldn't, despite an extenuating circumstance? I'm not saying it to crap on you, because I can procrastinate and stuff happens to me as well - but don't ask for reassurance for people who aren't the ultimate decision makers.

I maybe wrong but logically I think its a the current residence that matters for the calls not the citizenship.

The MIT application has a field which says for interview purposes what location would you prefer. I think the answer to that is what determines the pool you'll be considered in. I think the reason why MIT sends invites according to geographies is because they are trying to figure out which cities they want adcom traveling to depending on number of interviewees from a particular area. I don't think your ethnicity has anything to do with it. Of course not being a member of the adcom, this is a total guess!

I was reading the last 5 pages of the thread and realized that there were already interview invitations sent... (I didn't know), and just in that moment I saw my gmail notifier "MIT Sloan School of...." and I was like " YESSS! "

I opened gmail and read: "Join M.Fin. Admissions at 10 A.M. ..."

this is exactly the kind of response i was expecting (and hoping against hope to not receive).
i guess it is almost end of the road for Bostonians.

I am no expert on these things but I personally think that its a bit too early to think this as the end of road!

I agree too early to give up hope. We are just making up logic here to suit our needs. I am international so I made up this logic. If I was in Boston I would use the logic mentioned earlier in the thread, which caught adcom saying in an info session that they give out invites close to Boston till the very end as it is easy to organize interviews on short notices...

Sexonthebeach, I certainly wasn't asking for any kind of reassurance, and am in fact glad to hear you balancing out the feedback, particularly backing it up with hard data (your quote from Rod regarding the cover letter). I simply thought I would post it as sometimes individuals here are far more knowledgable than I, have followed MBA admissions for more time than I might have, and thus might have some direct experience with the matter, or perhaps heard Rod directly address the issue. That's all.

Vis-a-vis stats, I am fully aware that they are in no way the end all be all, and would humbly direct you to the "for what its worth" statement I had above them. They also were by no means posted as a way of "looking for reassurance". Just was putting mine out there as many have done in the past. I'm in range, so are 90%+ of those on the board it would appear, and as you rightly state plenty more goes into it. Thus ill add, to address your point 2), that*for what it's worth*, my undergrad institution is Cornell University.

Hope you accept my apologies if for whatever reason the whole issue came across as whiny or panicky..again I was just threw it out there to see if any had heard the issue directly addressed. I frankly had assumed that my app would be delayed to R2 and was pleased just to have it even included in R1.

Best of luck to all
