There are PLENTY of apartments that allow dogs. Keep in mind that you're coming into the biggest city in the United States, and also one that is filled with dog lovers. Yes, the rent is high, yes it kind of smells, but there are options for every kind of lifestyle.
My advice is to come into the city for 2 weekends (or a long one), and just walk around, get into the buildings, etc. Once you have a feel for the neighborhood(s) you like, then you can come back when you're ready to move, and get a real estate agent if you need to.

WOW!!! this has nothing to do with Stern...but...What kind of dog is it?! With something that big, your def going to need to live near central park.
More relevant question: I'm interview this week with Stern and I'm excited. I have a good feel for the questions they will ask but if anyone have any last minute tips? I'd be happy to have them!
