Well, I got waitlisted, and instead of the personal boost in pride to see if I actually get in or not, I immediately declined because I knew I was going to Kellogg. Strange how sometimes admissions works like that, you get into a higher ranking school but get rejected from a lower ranking one.

I have the same situation- got waitlisted but got into Booth. Its strange how the admissions process works...

Its about fit for them as much as it is for you. They know what they want when they form the classes.

I think NYU is concerned about yield...if they assume you'll get into a better school and you'll go there, then they WL you to give you the opportunity to decline the spot on the WL so they don't waste an admit on you that you won't accept. Just a thought, but it's the only school that asks what other schools you have applied to in the application.

Anyone else think this might be the case?

I have definitely been thinking about that idea as well.

Hard to tell since looks like some of us who applied to both Wharton and Stern were already accepted to Stern!
I'm still waiting, but I noticed that they viewed my eassy three monday afternoon...

Didn't get anything yesterday so not sure if that's a good or bad sign!! :?:

@candidates who interviewed off-campus -- Any final decision yet.. ???

I'm waiting as well. [Indian applicant, interviewed on 11 March]

Stern, supposedly, releases admits only on Wednesdays at 5:00 PM EST. Going by that I'm expecting a mail tonight (if I'm lucky enough).

I'm IN! I just randomly checked the 'Check Status' site and found my acceptance letter @ around 11:50 AM EST. Not sure how long it was sitting there, since I never received an email.

740/3.49/25/M/Outside of Philly/Interviewed on 3/7.

After 3 dings, this comes as a HUGE relief. Thanks to everyone for their help in this forum!

That would be bad. Stern was the only place I applied to in R1, and at the time I thought I'd be applying to 5 other schools (one of which is "better" and I'm an alumna of it, which might have given them the idea that I'd want to go back)... Between changing my mind after visiting, and simply running out of time in early January, that number dwindled down to two. And there was actually an email to someone in Stern AdCom about me that mentioned I was "undecided" about it (long story). This puts my WL in a different perspective... back when I applied they were definitely my top choice, and they still would be if it wasn't for the 4+ months in waiting and the $$$ I'm being offered elsewhere.

Got an email saying my status changed. Logged in online to view my rejection letter. I did just about everything in my power to craft a solid application. Maybe next year...

Question for those who interviewed...

Just noticed on the "transcript requirements" on the Stern website:
"All official academic transcripts must be original documents bearing the institutional seal and signature of the institution's registrar. They must be submitted in the original, sealed envelope from the institution."

Did everyone bring it in the "original, sealed envelope"??? I have been hanging on to original transcripts for quite some time, but I definitely no longer have the envelopes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

your transcript must be in an envelope sealed by institute. Request your institute for the sealed transcript.

I actually opened the envelope and the interviewer still accepted it. So i think transcript in an envelope from the institution should be fine!
