Waitlist w/o interview: 3/17

I am pretty disappointed, but still optimistic since I have already heard from several people that they were able to get off the waitlist at NYU. The adcom suggests sending in supplemental materials...does anyone know (or is willing to speculate) about how much of a factor immediate response is. The reason I ask is because I am supposed to hear from USC on 3/30 and I'd rather not waste my time improving my NYU app. I have to admit, I would probably rather go to NYU b/c of its higher ranking, but I definitely don't want to wait until August to know where I am going to school. So if I get into USC, I'll probably just go there. Thanks! And congrats to all the admits (I'm slightly jealous

Sorry to hear about that. I think from here one there will be more dings and WLs than interview invites. I hope I fall in that tiny percentage of interview invites. Fingers crossed.

Guys. Need some help. I am looking at a career in consulting and I have admit from both Ross and Stern. I am comfortable with both city and college town living. Have experienced both and equally enjoy both. Academically both programs are very similar with lots of experiential learning opportunities. Stern does have an edge in finance but seems to be equal to Ross in other areas. Really need to understand which one will suit me best. I have a diverse experience background. Engg, IT in finance, Entrepreneurship (Manufacturing).

My vote is for stern. Primarily because of the location. With all the major consulting firms situated a short distance away, I think you will get unparalleled industry exposure.

I know nothing about Ross so I'm biased. But Im switching careers from finance into consulting. I like Stern because of all the things they have in place to make this transition easier. They have Industry Mentoring Initiative, Stern Consulting Corp, Consulting Club...etc. In addition to the location as most firms have an office in NY.

For R2 applicants who still haven't heard a peep from Stern: there's hope. I got an email from adcom yesterday requesting additional information (a pretty peripheral piece of information, I might add). The timing and tone of the email suggested that they had just read my application for the first time. I applied on 1/6.

I'm a few weeks away from a deposit deadline at another school, so getting an interview invite at this stage (assuming that's the next step) will mean that I'll be cutting it pretty close. Not that I'm complaining - I'd take an invite / admit no matter where I was in the process!

is it just me or is stern waitlisting a LOT of people in R2. I have hardly seen any dings (although i for one am usually too upset to log on and report my dings).

It was the same in R1. I guess the longer they plan to wait before really moving on the WL, the more people they need on the WL in the first place. Kind of annoying though.
