I am working on Stern's Essay #3 and am applying to Round 2. Last week, I submitted my application for Booth and Columbia. I was wondering if people have tweaked the Booth slides to describe themselves. Importantly, I would like to know if anyone on the forum has received an admit after using slides.

I am really torn and having a tough time in deciding whether to use slides or text. With text, I can present a cohesive story. With slides, I can be more creative. However, the slides won't have a cohesive story.

Let me know what you folks have done.

Thanks!!!

i think they highly discourage using the booth slides...so just watch out for that.

Got accepted to Stern yesterday - I was among those 5pm EST emails. Timeline:

Submit: 11/14
Int Invite: 12/6
Interview: 12/16
Accepted: 1/5

Congrats to all who've been accepted and best of luck to everyone applying/waiting.

Got admitted as well. Very happy. My timeline is similar to yours.

Has anyone who was admitted spoken to someone in admissions since or received the hard copy of the acceptance letter? I believe that the letter online said that any scholarship money would be included in the mail...

HI everyone, I'm a reapplicant and interviewing next week...does anyone know know if ad com has read both your app from this year and last? Should I be ready to answer questions about why my goals have slightly changed from last year's essay this this year's, etc? Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks!

Never got a phone call but did receive the official acceptance in yesterday's mail. I believe that package would have let me know if I was awarded scholarship money, but unfortunately there was no mention of that. :( ...oh well, didn't really expect that anyway.

My interview is tomorrow. And while prepping, I think the question I can't get a good grasp on is the "backup plan" question. Any ideas / suggestions on how to approach this?

Do NOT recycle your Booth slides - the adcom easily recognises them and obviously, they won't like it much. In general, use the form that best describes YOU and represents YOUR story. The adcom mentions that quite some good responses that describe a candidate well are in the essay format. So dont worry about the 'format' - text, slide, physical objects, what have you.

Go with what will do justice to your story. As for me, I have used an essay.

Haven't received the hard copy of the acceptance letter yet, but expect to get it sometime this week. I imagine that the admission offer for an applicant is made at the same time as the financial aid decision, so it's in the mail already.

Hi all!

This thread (and GMAT Club) has been my anchor while everything else is so much in limbo. I am a frequent visitor (and reader), sparse poster as I am usually tangled up at work! I appreciate everyone for all the information shared and congrats to those admitted.

I got my interview invite last week and am interviewing in two weeks. I know that NYU is not a blind interview and they've read and know everything about you.

So my question is this - how do you go beyond the text in your essays? Especially for the why NYU part? I exhausted most of my sources and information to answer the Why NYU question so how do I approach this question when asked it again in-person?

For those curious:

Don't worry, they know you exhausted your research for that essay. In an interview, what you say is almost less important than how you say it. It is ok to say some of the same things you mentioned in the essay, but just really convey the enthusiasm that only a face-to-face interaction can. I just had my interview today, and the guy really wasn't probing. I reiterated some of the stuff I talked about in my essay, and he didn't give me any kind of "bored" feeling. I of course also looked at the website to add some more details but...I wouldnt worry about it too too much.

I'm also an international applicant who applied to Stern on R1. Any International applicants have heard back from the school yet?
