For those of you who've already heard back, is it safe to assume that the result comes out within 1-2 weeks? How long does it generally take for them to get back to you once you complete your interview? The website says to allow up to 3 weeks from the date of interview to receive a decision, but I'm hoping that they're just playing safe with that 3-week window.

Thanks much!!!

From what I have seen on this forum this year and last (as well as what was said to me during my interview) I think you can expect to hear in a week or two rather than 3 weeks.

Consortium Round 2 applicant. I just recieved an invite to interview at the end of Feb. Can those of you that have been admitted give me some tips for the interview and what questions will be asked??

Thanks!

From my own experience:

As the interviews are not blind you can expect some follow up questions on your essays and CV.

There weren't many "behavioural" questions of a "tell me a time you..." type in my interview, but obviously they are a couple so give some thought to those.

The attribute they seemed to be trying to assess was a demonstrated knowledge of / interest in the program. For that reason I would have some very specific examples of what you want to participate in at Stern and what you think differentiates it from other schools you have applied for or considered.

I'd definitely recommend having a question or two to ask around specific opportunities afforded at Stern. Have a look on the website at the programs and activities inside and outside of the classroom that Stern offers and see what you like the look of and ask some sensible questions on those topics.

I agree. One thing that I would add is that you should have a good idea of what you want to do not only after business school but also for your internship. They like to see as much detail as having the names of a few companies that you would want to target during the recruiting season.

But over all the interviews are very conversational and relaxed. In my case we talked about a variety of "softer" things - traveling, photography, cooking ...

And yes, they also give you a Stern t-shirt :)

Thanks! I have good answers for what I want to do and how I plan on getting involved.

Do you know what percentage of applicants that get invited to interview are admitted?

Also, If I plan on quiting my job shortly after the interview and going to work for my dads company for a few months leading up to business school should I tell them about that?

Thanks again!

Think about the rush of people applying in the last 24-48 hours of a deadline. With two weeks left before notifications are due, I'd stay there is still a shot!

Has anyone from rd2, who applied before the deadline, received an interview invite? (And those who didn't apply consortium)

I actually spoke too soon. I was just WL. I am a Rd 1 applicant who subbmitted on the night of the deadline. Now I need to figure out how to get off the WL. Any advice for getting off of Stern WL?

Have you visited the school? If not, that's strongly suggested. Doesn't matter if you are domestic or international, Stern's adcom expects that from everyone. Check out this post to figure out more on what you can do on a WL - https://bizschoolprep.blogspot.com/2012/ ... iness.html

Good luck!

Hi there,

I have been told that Stern invite a fewer portion of the applicant pool to interview and that as a result the % of people addmitted after interview is higher than in other schools. Can anyone confirm whether this is true? I haven't seen anyone reporting a ding after interview in this forum. Has someone been in this situation?
