Hi guys,

I'm an international applicant from india and just finished my interview on campus. It was very relaxed and conversational and the adcom did they're best to minimise any discomfort. You also get the Stern t-shirt!

They said they'd get back in two weeks but there isn't any good way to tell if the interview went well or not haha.

Anyway, I applied November 14, was invited December 16 and interviewed January 30 in NYC.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!!

Wow ..you actually went to NYC to interview? Good luck!
What other schools have you applied to?

Anyone know about statistics for JD/MBA applicants? Either straight from the JD program like myself or not?

Can't believe duongdav got dinged. Unbelievable effort in that essay three, you really put everyone else to shame. I'm also at a loss, you seem to have an awesome profile. You might want to reach out to ask Stern directly about what you could do, they should owe you at least that for your awesome introduction.

Does anyone can explain how and why NYU Dinged him? i think his background is good. is it because of Gmat 690?

I can't seem to get UCLA's video to work. It appears to be all corrupted. Can anyone repaste? My thought is GMAT... Or maybe essays? I had a friend denied because she had a career goal that admissions thought would be top difficult of a transition to make. I had another frien denied from stern because his essays were a mess to read. Other than that, I have no idea. Maybe he just wasn't what the adcom was looking for that day (which I don't really understand). Either way, best of luck with your other applications.

Any international applicant for Round 3?

I am an international student and I will be applying for R3.

Not sure about NYU Stern specifically, but I've been told by other AdCom's that applying in round 3 as an international applicant is 99.9% a waste of time. There are very few places for the whole round 3 applicant pool and AdCom's think there's not enough time to apply for visas, etc. That meaning they prefer admitting international applicants in earlier rounds to avoid possible problems.

I did it myself last year and I regret it. I think it's better to wait for next year admission and apply early.

That's my opinion and the decision is completely up to you, anyway.

If you look on p1, aside from one candidate, everyone who got admitted had a GMAT of 730+. That's scary. I know we don't have enough data points, but still....

Well, I watched your video man, I had that song stuck in my head all night :D seriously good job, you put a lot of detail into that that i didnt even notice until the second time through.
If anything you definitely showed enthusiasm and a lot of commitment. I would've thought you had it nailed for sure. your stats are awesome as well.

if I were to get admitted after you were dinged (especially with all you did) i would feel pretty guilty. If admits were transferrable coupons i'd just give you mine :D

the only thing i can say is that maybe you just didn't get lucky, just my opinion of course. My uncle was on the adcom for Cornell and his advice to me in bschool apps was "apply to as many schools as you can" he said that contrary to what applicants like to believe, the application process is very unscientific and a lot of it just comes down to luck of the draw. they do their best to weed out the applicants who arent fit/competetive enough for the school, and after that it's pretty much like drawing out of a fishbowl. When you're choosing the very best 400 out of 4500 applicants and making these decisions as a team, it's probably pretty tough to get the very top 400. They are bound to mess up alot in the process, either by picking some students from the lower 3000 who shouldn't get in, or missing some students that would normally be in the top 50 (like you, IMO).

I do think with the amount of work you put into your application (especilly the video) you deserve at least a few words of feedback from the person who decided "no" after reading your app. so if there is a polite way to contact them and ask, i would give that a shot.

good luck with whatever you end up pursuing!

Does anyone know the % of people who interview who are admitted? Judging by the data on this site, I haven't seen anyone who was denied after interview-- But that can't be right, can it? Business Week usually breaks down that information, but that stat was missing on the breakdown for Stern. Just curious. Also, do they give you their scholarship offer when/if you are accepted or do you have to wait?
