The general trend has been between one to two weeks before you hear back from admissions. In my case it was 8 days b/w the interview and decision. (The official word is obviously 3 weeks - as you must have be told when your interview ended).

You will receive a status change email with a link to the Application Status Check Website, which contains the admissions decision.

Don't freak out buddy, hopefully you will hear good news from them soon. Good Luck!

I have submitted on 10th Jan, but still not receive anything from adcom yet.
How does NYU notice you about Interview Invite or Ding? Does they give you a call or Email link?

I am freaking out when i saw the UCLA guy got Dinged by them. Man, please help!!!

Hi Duongdav, I saw the video you made and while i completely appreciate the insane amount of effort it must have taken to make it, here are a few points to think about:
1. This essay is not a test of your creativity in general, but a test of how creatively you can get across salient points of your personality across to the adcom.
2. It was obvious that you had professional help to make the video and that's why a well-produced video does not get that many extra brownie points. UCLA has in fact removed the video essay as it intrinsically favored those who had contacts/friends/resources to shoot well-produced videos.
3. I felt the video was way too long. I started getting bored after the 3 mins mark. Consider sacrificing form for brevity.
4. This is a personal thing - but the auto-tune starts getting grating after a point. Also it seems to stop working in between when you get to the chorus? Keep it consistent.

Good luck with the rest of your apps mate. You are obviously very talented and I'm sure you will make it to a good school.

Is anybody else interviewing over diversity weekend feb 24? I registered through the link they sent me but I still haven't recieved a confirmation with the details (time, location, etc)

I am wonering if I should follow up with them but it's only been a few days and I don't want to seem pushy.

thanks for watching my video and thanks for the kind words. I actually tried calling them to see if they would let me talk to someone, but they wouldn't. also tried emailing and they gave me your run of the mill response..."a lot of strong applicants blah blah."

i wish i could get some closure on this hahaha...it seriously kills me to know i invested a hundred hours into that video just to get rejected.

i appreciate the love from the forum though! im not one to die easy so ill be back with another video.

Having managed to watch the video it is tremendously entertaining. But I'm not sure how much more I knew about why you wanted to go to Stern or what you would contribute there. I'm sure there are great answers to both and that the other essays cover a lot of ground but I am not sure how the video helps stregthen either answer.

A superbly written, performed and edited video is all well and good but it does not help an ad com decide whether to admit you to a business school. Michael Jackson made great music videos but would you want him in your study group for an accounting class?

In general, based on advice I found online and attending admissions events, I think the best thing to do with essay three is to figure out what you want to communicate to stregthen your candidacy and then worry about the "creative" aspect as the last step.

From what I can tell the ad com are far more interested in the what you communicate in that essay than how well and in what manner you present it. So perhaps they felt that in this case form was leading function rather than the other way round?

thanks for the feedback whirlwind and kickinback.

originally, the whole video was actually supposed to be short commercials for each product that i incorporated. every brand i showed off in the video are CPG companies that hire out of NYU so i was hoping that they caught that.

my whole concept around essay 3 was to be more light-hearted and funny. the other ones i saw on youtube put me to sleep and i felt they were just resumes in either powerpoint or video form.

definitely good points and duly noted for next time.

The next day for me. Included was acceptance letter + leather portfolio + scholarship letter + background check industructions

A week later. But that was due to the delay in it getting to Europe and then my being out when they first tried to deliver. It was sent the same day as the email though so I guess it is a question of how far that letter physically has to travel.

Contents were the same as the above - acceptance letter, scholarship letter, background check info.

R1 applicant here. Got waitlisted last Thursday. Not sure what to make of it being so late. I want to think I was on the cusp of an interview invitation, but I could just as easily been on the cusp of a ding.
