Re: Calling All NYU Stern MBA Applicants: 2024 Intake Class of 2026

I’m assuming they have a % of their class they do not want the waivers to exceed. If they are above that point right now, they need to reduce that percentage by letting in less waiver candidates or waiting until more non-waiver candidates commit to coming to NYU. The hardest part of admitting us (waiver candidates), is that we likely are a high yielding candidates (high likelihood we accept an admittance). So if they are above that % they want in their class stats, they likely won’t consider inviting any more waiver candidates to interview. It also appears they approved far more waivers than their target percentage would allow, which makes the waiver application pool far more competitive than a non-waiver application pool. Thus a reason why they might be favoring consortium waiver applicants because those applicants improve the diversity score of their class pool. It gives another data point for the school to base its decision off of.
This is all obviously conjecture deduced from following this form, but all in all, I for one, would have better utilized my time studying for a test rather than putting my hopes into a waiver application if I had realized this 6 months ago.
